The Mustang Minute

It was truly refreshing to have some brisk weather today! It has helped to cool the parts of our building where the AC does not reach! This week seemed a bit about drills as we packed in a couple. Earlier this week we did our first Fire Drill with our new locations due to construction. The students did an excellent job and thanks to the fire department! Today we did a "Run-Hide-Fight" drill with a "Run" scenario. During a Run drill 7th and 8th grade students are walked with their teachers to our rally location. Grade 6 is brought first to the auditorium where Officers Baguma and Rooney describe the drills and why they are important and then they are walked to the rally point. The students did an excellent job both at the assembly and during the drills today. We would like to thank the Norwood police Department for being on site to help with traffic and safety during the drills.

Activities Starting this Month

Yearbook Club: Grade 8 Only Starts Monday, September 25th at 3:30

Unified Champions: Monday during Mustang Block for current members only

Student Council: Starts Wednesday, September 27

We are looking for some new members for the Coakley School Council. The School council is a decision making body comprised of parents, teachers, students, and the principal. We review each year's budget, create a update the School Improvement Plan, and revise the student handbook. If you are interested, please email Dr. Fraczek at mfraczek@norwood.k12.ma.us!

PTO Board Openings

The Coakley PTO would like to welcome everyone back to school! The PTO is a parent/teacher organization that helps fund a variety of activities at CMS from assemblies, to field trips, to classroom projects and more. We would love for everyone to be a part of the PTO!

PTO meetings are held the fourth Tuesday of the month at 7:00pm both virtually and in person. The dates are listed below a link to the meeting online is sent out the day of the meeting.

Attention 7th Grade Parents:

Please see the attached letter about Massachusetts 7th grade physical and immunization requirements. If your student has had a physical since 9/1/2022, and you have not yet sent in a copy, please bring/send in a hard copy, email to jkozol@norwood.k12.ma.us, or have the doctor fax to 833-704-1903.

If your child still needs the physical and/or immunizations, please schedule an appointment as soon as possible so that the requirements will be met by the first day of school in September.
