DLI Interest Night at Hawks View Elementary - April 6th, 6-7pm

Are you curious about the Dual Language Immersion Program? Do you have interest in completing an application for your incoming Kindergarten child? We invite you to attend our first DLI Interest Night to better understand what the program entails. The invitation is for both the child and parents/caregivers. A teacher from the program will teach a lesson (in Spanish), describe a typical day/schedule and offer opportunities for questions. This is a great opportunity to see if this might be the right fit for your family!

Dual Language Immersion

The Sherwood School District is excited to continue our Spanish/English Dual Language Immersion Program in the Fall of 2023. We will be in our fourth year of the program having a class in 1st grade, 2nd grade, 3rd grade and an incoming Kindergarten class for the Fall of 2023 . A Dual Language Immersion Program has the goal of promoting bilingualism, bi-literacy, and socio-cultural competence.

Applications are now open for a new DLI Kindergarten class, with a balance of Native English and Spanish speakers. There may be few slots open in our first grade class as well. If you applied last year, you will remain on the waiting list and do not need to re-apply.

Please click HERE for information and the DLI application.

PAC Information

HV PAC needs YOU! There's still time to nominate yourself for a board or committee position. Most positions can be shared and there are varying time commitments. Whether you have a lot or a little time available, PAC would love to have you join us! Click here for the PAC website for more info. The nomination form can be found here. Email president@hawksviewpac.org with any questions.

Programs Update: Did you know PAC makes lots of fun clubs and activities available to HV students? Parent/guardian volunteers are a key part to helping these programs run - thank you! Please read on for an update on some of the offerings...

  • Chess club ended on a high note with special appearances by staff members to square off against our student players.

  • Passport club is going strong and our geography specialists have had the opportunity to learn up to 121 countries as well as various landmarks and capitals.

  • Mason Jar Science: Hawks View PAC is starting a brand new science program for the spring for our 3rd-5th graders. It takes place Thursdays after school starting 4/6. Session availability is limited but more sessions could be offered if there is a lot of interest! If your student is interested, please email programs@hawksviewpag.org.
