A Message from our Principal!
This year is off to a good start. In an effort to keep everyone safe, our staff and students continue to follow the safety mitigation strategies and protocol. With approximately 1,600 students in the building, we have enjoyed some sense of normalcy amongst this ongoing pandemic. Many of our after-school clubs and activities have begun to meet and prepare for homecoming events beginning next week. We hope to see you at the parade and game on Friday, October 22nd.
We have just finished our first quarter, and I am proud of the 748 students that made honor roll. We had 189 make Superintendent's Honor Roll, 249 make Principal's Honor Roll and 310 make Honor Roll. Way to go Braves!
Follow us on Twitter and Instagram for updates and important information.
Take care,
Naomi Dunbar

Honoring #2 JaQuan Yulee
JaQuan Rashad Yulee was already a star. He was an outstanding student athlete who overcame tremendous odds. His infectious joy and laughter could only be eclipsed by his bright smile. He played linebacker on the football team at Indian River from 2014-2016. Yulee was a highly sought after football recruit, who had multiple offers from Power Five colleges and universities in the nation, including Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Virginia Tech, Clemson, and Ohio State. He later earned his Bachelors degree from Marshall University. JaQuan Yulee tragically lost his life on July 13th, 2021 at the age of 24, one day before he had planned to announce his commitment to Virginia State University to play football and pursue his Masters degree. On September 24th, 2021, we honored this young king by retiring his football #2.
