GLOBE Trot is almost here!
GLOBE Trot happens this Friday and we are ready for a day full of running, racing, snow cones and fun. To date, we have raised over $112K. Thank you so much to everyone who has contributed!
We encourage parents/guardians to attend GLOBE Trot and cheer for their student(s) during their run time. The event day schedules can be viewed here: Upper Campus | Lower Campus. Please consider volunteering before or after your child’s run time.
We still have classes that have not reached 100% participation. Please reach out to Adrienne McMillon if you would be willing to assist your class and/or grade level in achieving this. Each class that reaches 100% will enter a drawing to win a virtual class field trip featuring the Zoo Atlanta Ivan - Wild Within program. Please show your support and contribute today.
On Friday we plan to announce the winners of our top prizes including:
Grand prize drawings for GLOBE prizes such as coolers and bags (1 raffle ticket for every $100 raised).
Top fundraisers at Lower and Upper campus who will win a Zoo Atlanta package (6 admission tickets) and a Hawks package (4 admission tickets), respectively
Top earning class from each grade level who will receive an hour recess/PE pass or dress down day (at the teacher’s discretion)
Friday is a normal school day (no early-release)
Friday is a normal school day, so please allow your child to stay in school until dismissal. If you choose to check your child out early, you must follow the standard early-pick up protocol via the front office.
Parking
At Upper Campus, please park across the road at Church in Atlanta. For Lower Campus, please follow neighborhood parking protocols. Echo Ridge Recreation Club has kindly agreed to allow some parking spaces.
Peace Week
GLOBE visits the French Embassy in Washington, D.C.
Parent Coffee Talks
Thank you to everyone who joined us at Lower Campus last week for the coffee talk about bullying, hosted by our school counselors, Diane Grant, Terrace Anderson and Morgan McKinnon. You can watch a recording of the talk here, and view the slides from the presentation here. Visit GLOBE's website to view recordings and slides from all of this year's coffee talks.
Campus notes
We are pleased to share a few images from recent events. Dress-up day happened on October 31. Students also took part in fun activities during Peace Week and GLOBE cheerleaders were outside promoting GLOBE Trot which happens this Friday!
The Dia de los Muertos is a celebration handed down from the Aztecs and Mayas, not only in Mexico, but also in other Central American countries. It is a joyful time that helps people remember the deceased and celebrate their memory. Thank you parents for all your help. The students had a great time learning about these traditions through different related classroom activities and sharing pan de muerto, fruit, cheese, and juice.
The UC Science Fair will take place on November 30 for grades 4-5, and on December 1 for grades 6 through 8. Look out for more information from your child’s teacher.
Last week student's had fun celebrating Peace Week. Kindergarten held a fall festival recently (we have included a few pictures below) and we are delighted to share a brief video clip of our 2nd grade Mandarin class reciting the pledge of allegiance during morning announcements at Lower Campus. Everyone is excited for GLOBE Trot this coming Friday.

Volunteer hours can help GLOBE receive grants
Did you know that when you volunteer, it can help GLOBE receive grants? Some donors want to know how involved the community is. We can show them that parents are invested in the school by sharing the volunteer hours we have tracked. So please remember to log your hours here. When you log your time, you'll also be entered in our drawing for a volunteer-of-the-month carpool flag. As a reminder, each family is requested to volunteer ten hours each year. To see current volunteer opportunities, click here. Thank you for volunteering at GLOBE.
