Celebrate Freedom Week
Believe it or not, we have just about made it to the midpoint of the 1st 9-weeks! Friday, please make it a point to log into Canvas and check out your student's interim grades for their classes. Our students and staff have been working hard in the classroom and I am sure you will take notice of that hard work with their interim grades.
This week marks "Celebrate Freedom Week". This week is observed annually and seeks to educate students about the values of which our country was founded and the sacrifices made for freedom. To learn more about Celebrate Freedom Week, check out the WVDE website.
We have a lot of great stuff happening at CTMS this week. Tomorrow, our Builder's Club is traveling to particiapte in the United Way's Day of Caring to volunteer around Jefferson County. The Volleyball team is in action at Wildwood on Monday adn Shepherdstown on Wednesday. The Football team is back in action on Wednesday as they travel to Romney to take on the Pioneers. We are happy to announce that our brand new bleachers are being installed this week in the gymnasium. PE classes will be outside during installation (weather permitting.)
Please remember that CTMS along with Jefferson County Schools believes that attendance all day, every day matters. We miss our students when they are not in school. If you know your child is going to be absent, please communicate that with your student's teachers via CANVAS. You may also submit any absence notes electronically, using this link Submit An Absence (jotform.com) or utilizing the link of the school website.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to school administration with any questions or concerns. We are looking forward to a great year with your student at CTMS.

Principal
Back to School Night - Recap
A BIG THANK YOU to the food trucks who came out to make the night a success: Fried Rite, Haulin' Butts BBQ, and Makua's Shaved Ice. We are looking forward to making this an annual event - so keep an eye out for next year's announcement.
Like how Back to School Night was set up? Then think about joining the CTMS PTO. The PTO meets once a week (last Thursday of the month) in the CTMS Media Center at 6:00. All parents/guardians are welcome to join.
School Picture Day- Save the Date!
School Picture Day will be in October 26 and 27!
Look for more information from Ms. Hall in the next newsletter about ordering your pictures.
CTMS Athletics Update
Athletic Update from Mr. Daly, Athletic Director
Football - CTMS has a good group of athletes and some new faces that have made the team better connected and gelled. I love the coaching staff additions as they have added a fantastic knowledge base to the team and they are able to interact with the kids all day long!
Volleyball - Absolutely love the cohesiveness with the athletes where they cheer on their teammates through good and bad and that we had one heck of a student section at the first game. It is a great group of girls and for the most part they are representing our school in a positive manner. I am excited to see who ends up playing at the MAC!
XC - I am partial to this group as they are a great group of runners. Our captains are leading the way, and they are bringing up the new faces and keeping everything positive! They are all improving even young into the season. I am excited to see who competes at the MAC!
7th Grade Immunization Requirements per West Virginia Law
All students entering 7th grade are required by West Virginia law to have both an updated Tdap (diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis) as well at their first MCV4 (meningococcal) vaccine. (The second MCV4 is required for entry to 12th grade as well). It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to provide proof of these vaccinations or a state approved medical exemption. Phone calls and letters have been sent home to those who are delinquent. If your student has not completed these vaccinations, you can schedule with their pediatrician, the Jefferson County Health Department, urgent care, or a local pharmacy (Shepherdstown Pharmacy has reached out and offered to help if needed).
Proof of these vaccinations must be received by the school nurse no later than Friday, September 15. Failure to do so, may result in your child's removal from school.
If you have any questions, contact Jeff Neccuzzi, WV State Immunization Department Director at 1-800-642-3634 or visit the WVDHHR/BPH website.
Thank you - Mariah Dent, RN
