College Board Test/ College Fair
The College Board tests will be coming up in October. While most colleges do not require test scores for college admittance, they are important in determining the English or Math courses that the college will be admitted to without having to take remedial courses first. If a student needs remediation before taking actual college courses, the student must pay for the class, but will not receive college credit.
Seniors: We plan to offer the SAT at Center High School this year on October 2, 2021. The regular registration deadline is September 3rd. Our school code is 060235. Go to sat.org/success to register. Put in our zip code if you want to take it here.
Juniors: The PSAT/NMSQT is the scholarship competition that the National Merit program uses to determine first level qualifications for their scholarship program. If a student scores well enough to qualify and later takes the SAT and scores well, it is possible for the student to receive a “full ride” scholarship for 4 years. Sign up with Mrs. Alfson by September 9th so we can be sure to have a test ordered for you. The actual test will be the week of October 11th.
Juniors and seniors: Please plan to attend the College Fair at Adams State University with Center High School on September 13th. We will plan to leave at 11:15 so we can get to Alamosa, have lunch, and then take part in the College Fair at 1:00. Please send your student to school that day with money for lunch. They will need to register through Advisory or one of their classes, and bring something to write with. They should expect to visit with college admissions people and ask questions. If parents have questions about the trip, they may call the high school at (719) 754-2232.
Students must wear a mask during the College Fair
