Pirates of the Month for February
Please join me in congratulating our February Pirates of the Month! These students are chosen by our LCMS Staff as students who demonstrate the characteristics of what it means to be a Pirate! Congratulations!

Science Fair Results
Three of our outstanding LCMS Pirates competed in the South Plains Regional Science and Engineering Fair (SPRSEF) on Thursday, Feb. 22nd. The event, hosted at Texas Tech University, brought together young scientists in grades 4-12 from across the region to present their research and compete for recognition.
Vishwatej Tallam competed in the 8th grade Physical Science Division and received the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) Environmental Excellence Award. The TCEQ Environmental Excellence Award recognizes students who demonstrate a commitment to environmental stewardship and innovation in their research projects. He also received a letter of commendation from the Environmental Protection Agency.
Ambree Howe competed in the 8th grade Biological Division and received the Caprock Home Health Award which included a $50 cash prize and the Junior Division Naval Science Award from the Office of Naval Research. This award highlights Ambree's commitment to scientific inquiry and exploration.
Josie Butts competed in the 8th grade Biological Division and received 3rd place overall in her division! She also received a letter of commendation from the US Environmental Protection Agency. By placing in the top three in her division, she advances to the Texas State Science and Engineering Fair held at Texas A&M University in College Station in March!
In addition to student awards, science teacher Chelsea Bullock received one of the SPRSEF Sweeps Awards for 8th grade! We are so proud of each of these students’ outstanding scientific achievements. Way to go Pirates!

Message for next years 7th grade students!
IMMUNIZATION NEEDED FOR 7TH GRADE
Dear Parent/Guardian;
This letter is to inform you that your child must receive the vaccines listed below prior to entering seventh grade. If your child has already received these vaccines, please send a copy of your child’s current immunization record to kbradshaw@lcisd.net. If your child has not received the vaccines listed below, please make plans for your child to receive these vaccines from a medical provider before the start of the 2024-25 school year.
State law requires immunizations for all public school students. All seventh grade students must have the vaccines listed below prior to their seventh grade year. The immunization record must be validated by a physician or nurse’s signature or a clinic stamp.
Tdap/Td Booster - one dose required for seventh grade (One dose of Tdap is required if at least five years have passed since the last dose of tetanus-containing vaccine.)
Meningococcal - one dose required for seventh grade

School Information
Absences - Parents are to report student absences including early outs/late arrivals in their Skyward Family Access via an attendance request. This can be done in the app or on a desktop. Click here to view a how to video When submitting an Early Out or Late Arrival absence request, please be sure to UNSELECT the ‘all day check mark’. This ensures the attendance office knows what time your child will be leaving and/or arriving. Campus attendance email is for submitting documentation, such as a doctors note. If you have any questions please contact Annie Young ayoung@lcisd.net or by calling the front office.

Outside Food Delivery - Due to security concerns, no outside entity (DoorDash, Pizza delivery, etc.) will not be allowed to drop off lunches for students. Parents/Guardians may bring a lunch for their students. Lunches can be dropped off in the front office in the marked shelving area. Please be sure your student knows they are getting lunch so they can come pick it up in the office.

Skyward - Lubbock-Cooper ISD provides parents access to their children's records via our student information system, Skyward Family Access. Skyward Family Access maintains an open line of communication between school and home, and allows parents and students the opportunity to view grades, attendance information, schedules, calendars, and additional information any time of day. Student Badges - All students must have their badges on them at all times. Badges will be used everyday to include: Bus Riding, Lunch Purchase, Library Checkout, etc.
Student Dress Code - As we return from summer break, please remind your students of our dress code policy. Student Dress Code
Transportation - If your child will be riding the bus this year, you MUST complete the Transportation Request Form that can be found here. Student badges will be used to ensure the safety of your students this year. Campuses will be able to know exactly where and when students are dropped off and/or picked up.

The Pirate Pantry is in need of the following items at this time. Please drop these off at your convince to the front office.
*Please Note: the clothing requested for the pirate pantry does not have to be new unless it’s under garments. We do take gently used items but ask that they are in good condition with no rips or stains on them.
