Martin School Family Update

Dear Martin Families,

North Attleborough Public Schools hosted its Special Olympics last Wednesday, and it was a HUGE success! Students paraded into the games and played a variety of baseball themed activities. The weather could not have been better! It was PERFECT! A special thank you to the Director of Student Services, Mrs. Meg Camire, and Assistant Director of Student Services, Mrs. Jessica Davis, for organizing such an incredible event!

And, thank you, again, for donations made earlier in the month to the Tryon Strong "Fill the Bag" Fundraiser. The fundraiser yielded $433. Of that, $155 was collected by 1SR who celebrated with a Pizza Party on Friday! Donations were sent to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The Tryon Strong Team hoped to raise $50,000 dollars through all of its fundraising efforts including the Fill the Bag Fundraiser at Martin. In total, Team Tryon Strong raised over $75,000 for pediatric cancer research! Way to go, Tryon Strong, and to all of our Martin families who supported this cause!

Also, you may be wondering about the results of the clothing drive. Well in just weeks, over 5,000 LBS of clothes and other soft goods were donated!! The school earned $1,014 for the fully ADA accessible playstructure. In total, $6,000 was raised this school year through donations, our 2 Red Sox raffles, and other fundraising efforts. Thank you, all, for your support!

Lastly, as we enter this Memorial Day weekend with reverence and humility, may we all remember those who have fought hard for the freedoms we have today.

On Tuesday, June 6th, Martin will be participating in a Walk to School event! For those who would like to join in the fun, you can drop off your students with a Martin staff member at the Middle School parking lot (on 564 Landry Avenue) and as a group, we will walk to school. You may park your car in the front parking lots of NAMS, nearest Landry Ave, at 8:00am.

Route: We will cross the road at NAMS, walk down Landry Avenue, and enter Martin.

Important notes:

-Children MUST be dropped off to a Martin Staff member.

-Kindergarten students must be accompanied by an adult. Students in grades 1-5 can be dropped off to Martin staff at NAMS.

Meeting time: 8:00am

Walking time: 8:10am

It is time to get ready to celebrate our Martin graduates! The 5th Grade social is a wonderful Martin tradition and it takes a village to make it a memorable experience for our graduates. Martin Families, we need your help!! The annual Spirit Day is upon us, and comes with your last chance to volunteer this year! It takes over 50 volunteers to make this a special day for the kids. Let’s work together to make this a success. Please follow the link below to sign up to help out! Whether you can only help with set-up the day before or hang out for the whole day, there’s something for everyone.

For grades 2-5, this is a closed event—for students only. However, if you would like to be a part of the Spirit Day experience, please volunteer for one of the many events. You could join in the fun all day, morning or afternoon shift. You could even mix it up with two different events, one in the morning and a different one in afternoon. The more help we get the merrier. Sorry but younger siblings are not allowed.

Lunch will be provided to all full day volunteers!

In order to volunteer, adults must have an active CORI. All classes K through five will attend spirit day following the schedule below. If you would like to be with your child during their session, please make sure you volunteer. Join the fun and volunteer to be a part of this special tradition!

Spirit Day Schedule

6/7/23 (rain date: 6/13)

9:20 – 10:40 am Grade K and 1

10:45 – 12:15 pm Grades 4 & 5

1:00-2:30 pm Grades 2 & 3

If using the carpool lanes for arrival to school, please pull up as far as you can before stopping your car. That will help us maintain an efficient flow of cars at carpool. Carpool students can enter any of the 3 doors opened at carpool. They don’t have to enter the door of their wing.

Also, this is just a friendly reminder that when stop signs are opened up on a bus, vehicles must stop. This is to ensure the safety of the children as they enter and exit the buses. Thank you for your help and cooperation!
