A Message From Heather Patterson, GRHS Principal
Happy Sunday GRHS Longhorns,
This past week we were able to celebrate our cafe ladies for all their hard work each day and even throughout the summer as they served our community breakfast and lunch each and every day. We appreciate their dedication to our Longhorn Nation!
This week we are raising awareness and TACKLING breast cancer. Thursday is PINK OUT day and we would love for all Longhorns to bring $1 to advisory that day so that we can make a Longhorn Nation Donation to a local foundation where it will help fund a mammogram, support education, or help reach women in underserved communities, our donation truly matters. Let's make it happen Longhorns just like the $1,000 donation to MOJO's Miracle foundation we made this past month! Every dollar counts and makes a difference in a life...as we have lost too many Longhorn mamas, grandmothers, aunts, and friends through this breast cancer battle. PINK OUT game day is Saturday at away (Hall Stadium) against Ft Bend Bush! Let's go Horns!
The Zombie Prom show is this week! Get your tickets now and come support our Longhorn Players as you watch this fun family friendly show!
NEXT WEEK IS RED RIBBON WEEK! OCTOBER 25th-29th Check out the fun dress up days coming.
Lanyards/ID's should be on the second you step through the doors each day. Please make sure you are following this rule as well as being in dress code!
The front office is open Monday- Friday 8:00-4:00pm to assist you. You can also directly email us or call 832-223-4200 during the same hours. We are happy to help!

TENNIS
PLAY OFFS - GRHS VS SEVEN LAKES
After fighting their way into a playoff spot, the Longhorn Varsity Tennis team wrapped up a solid season of fall team tennis play falling short to Seven Lakes, 0-10. We are proud of the growth and commitment from these student athletes, but more importantly we are proud of their hearts! We look forward to an exciting spring season and all the great things ahead for our team!
FOOTBALL!
GRHS vs Ridgepoint
The Longhorns dropped a heartbreaker to the Ridgepoint Panthers. The Longhorns were leading 7-0 at halftime thanks to a pass from Melvin Youngblood to Anthony Lenette. In the second half the Panthers answered with a touchdown of their own to make it 7-8. The Longhorns regained the lead 13-8 on a hard run by Brandon Everett. The Panthers capitalized on a turnover and went up 13-16. The Longhorns were unable to finish their last drive in the end zone and time ran out. Defensive standouts included Michael O'Shea, Elijah Noska and Jake Clark. The Longhorns fought hard but fell to the Panthers from Ridgepoint. The Longhorns will take on Bush HS next week.
The Longhorns JV Black football took on the Ridge Point Panthers Wednesday Night. The horns ended up losing the game 24-0. The Horns could not overcome a few bad field positions, which then gave the RP Panthers short fields. Standouts included Malichi Montgomery & Jordan Crump.
The Longhorns could not capitalize even after opening up the scoring Wednesday Night. Javon Randle and Derek Watson ran the ball hard behind a game-tested Longhorns Offensive Line. The final score of the game was 36-7 Ridge Point.
The Longhorns took on the Ridge Point Panthers Thursday Night at Traylor Stadium. The Horns ended up falling short to the Panthers 44-14. The Longhorns offense struggled to capitalize on long drives to help make the score more manageable. The Horns got a spark on special teams anytime Tim Fisher got his hands on the ball. Defensive standouts included Judson Mixon, Trey Aikens and KJ McGuire. The horns will look to start fast and physical as they continue into the last 3 weeks of District play.
When one of our LCISD school board members brings you nachos and Powerade after a long day during a football game...you know he's a GR-eat guy! Thanks Zach Lambert! Dr. Sanzo and I appreciate you and your dedication to our district!
