Lockdown Drills at All Schools (February 22 - March 4)

All schools in our District will be participating in lockdown drills February 22-March 4. This will be the second lockdown drill of the year and will be “unannounced” to students and staff. These drills are an essential part of our emergency preparedness, and help students and staff to practice specific protocols that would occur in an emergency situation. Practice drills such as these are also an opportunity for our administrators and staff to collaborate with the Sherwood Police Department, and to gather feedback on how to improve procedures.

During a lockdown drill, staff and students are secured within their individual classrooms/offices, and there is no movement in the building. No one will be allowed to enter or exit the campus until the drill has been completed.

Missing Skateboards and Scooters: Recently we have had a few skateboards and scooters that are missing from the front of the school at the end of the day. If your student rides a skateboard, scooter, or bicycle it is recommended your student lock up their equipment to prevent theft.

Exclusion Day: February 16th is the exclusion day. Students who have not received required immunizations, or a nonmedical/ medical exemption before the start of school on February 16th will be excluded from school until providing documentation of the receipt of immunization(s), or a nonmedical/medical exemption. The OHSU Testing Program will pick up student test samples next week on Thursday, February 17th, rather than Friday, February 18th due to the Wellness Day now scheduled for the 18th.

Wellness Days: The Sherwood School Board presented a Staff Care and Retention Package at the Board meeting Wednesday evening. The link is provided here. (https://bit.ly/39VlhD3) Part of that package are two “Wellness Days” on February 18th and April 29th. These will be non-school days for students.
