
Community Service Challenge
Head of School Community Service Challenge
Arizona Virtual Academy and Insight Academy of Arizona look forward to recognizing and rewarding students for their exemplary volunteer efforts within their local community.
Requirements for this school year:
· Hours must be completed through a nonprofit, government agency, school, or faith-based organization
o Students may not work for family to complete their hours. Students may not be monetarily or otherwise compensated for their service hours.
o To earn church-related service hours, volunteer hours must be spent serving the community at large and not only the church congregation. (Volunteering with church members to host a food drive would count, whereas volunteering in the nursery during services would not count.)
· Hours must be served between April 1st and March 31st of each year
HIGH SCHOOL Students
1) GPA of at least 2.0
2) 9-12th grades need 150 hours of community service in one year
*Senior requirements (School year 2020-2021) for an Honors Cord at graduation is 150 hours over the past 4 years.
3) Are eligible to earn a Varsity Letter along with a certificate from the Head of School
MIDDLE SCHOOL Students:
1) GPA of at least 2.0
2) 25 hours of community service in one year
3) Are eligible to earn a certificate from the Head of School and a community service pin.
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL Students:
1) GPA of at least 2.0
2) 20 hours of community service (under direct supervision of parent or LC)
3) Are eligible to earn a certificate from the Head of School and a Community Service Ribbon.
