MST Weekly Update
February 9, 2024

Good afternoon to all of our MST family members.
Last night we had our annual open house for prospective CTE students and 8th graders thinking of attending MST High School full time. The event was a huge success with over 230 students attending with their families.
Report cards were printed and given to student earlier in the week. Last week's MST Weekly Update explained what you should be seeing on the report card at this point. Ou report cards are really a progress report, and you should be seeing progress in every class.
This coming week, students will be selecting classes for next year. If they have made little progress at this point in the year, their teacher may be recommending Them for the same class again next year. There is still plenty of time to get caught up, but students have to understand that if they are not successful in a required class, they will either have to do summer recovery (if eligible) or they will have to repeat the class to earn credit.
College Fair at MST
Our annual MST College Fair is on Wednesday, February 21st from 8:00-2:00. We are at capacity with 40 colleges and military branches. All students will be invited to attend this event. You will see a list of schools below along with a guide to help students prepare for the college fair.
Industry Recognized Credential (IRC)
Manchester High School students will have an opportunity to earn Industry Recognized Credentials during February Vacation. IRC Con 2 will be held at Memorial High School February 27th-29th. The event is free of charge and breakfast, lunch and snacks will be provided.
Students can earn IRCs in Life Saving Skills, Save Serve Food Handing, Fire Extinguisher Safety and 21st Century Job Skills. register today at: https://bit.ly/IRCCon24
Course Selection for 2024-25
From February 12th-16th, all 9th, 10th and 11th grade students will be selecting their classes for next year. Teachers will be making recommendations next week to help guide their course selections. All 9th graders will be selecting the Career and Technology Education (CTE) program that they wish to be in for the next two years. A student must successfully complete 9th grade to be enrolled in a CTE.
Here is the 2024-25 Course Catalog for the Manchester School District. All CTE classes are listed under Career and Technical Education (pages 33-41) and MST High School courses are on pages 106-119.
FAFSA Workshop
On Thursday, February 22nd, Granite Edvance will be at MST to assist students with filling out their FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid.) Filling out the FAFSA is a graduation requirement so this is a great chance to work with someone who is a FAFSA expert. They will be here from 9am to 1pm.
Please see Ms. Wheeler or Mrs. Tetu if you would like to sign up and schedule a time to meet with Granite Advance.
Please Note: You need to complete your FAFSA ID prior to filling out the FAFSA. If you do not know how till fill out the FAFSA ID please see myself or Mrs. Tetu for instructions. Parents or Guardians: There is a parent section of the FAFSA in addition to the student section. If you would like to come in and work with Granite Edvance while your student is working with them, you are welcome to come in and do so. Please let Ms. Wheeler or Mrs. Tetu know if you would like to join. Their contact information is below:
