Principal's Message

Dear Vista Families,


Our Annual Winter Sing is scheduled for Wednesday, December 20th at 6:30pm. Fliers were sent home last week. It takes place at the Claremont United Church of Christ on 233 Harrison Avenue in Claremont.


This week is our last week until winter break. Both Wednesday and Thursday 12/20 and 12/21 are early dismissal days at 1:00pm. There is no school on Friday, December 22nd. Winter break begins December 22nd and we return to school on January 8th.


The Vista December School Wide Attendance Challenge is underway. Be sure to have your child come to school, on-time daily! If we earn a 90% attendance rate for December, we will have music at recess. Earning a 95% or better, students receive a goodie that is voted on by the student body AND music at recess!! Weekly attendance trophies are still being announced and distributed to classrooms.

District Attendance Challenge

Congratulations to Vista students for winning the month three district award for improved attendance! Our attendance grew 1.1%. Awesome job, Vikings!!

An Important Note about Attendance

Just a reminder that Excused Absences due to personal reasons are as listed below. Reasons other than those listed are considered unexecused absences. This is a mandate by the State of California.


  1. Family funeral
  2. Appearances in court
  3. Holiday or ceremony of student’s religion or culture
  4. Family emergency (verifiable)


When you leave a message on the attendance line, please clarify the reason. Thank you for bringing your child to school everyday.

December Breakfast and Lunch Menu

School Parking

Several of our entry/dismissal points are on Vista Drive so plan ahead for early arrival and morning school traffic. The staff parking lot will be closed. There will be no entry/exit to the parking lot. Keep in mind that all white painted curbs are for student drop off and no parking will be allowed in those areas. Please be courteous to our neighbors by not blocking driveways and adhering to the posted speed limits. Claremont Police Department continually monitors the flow of traffic so please adhere to all posted signs.

iPad Insurance

During the first week of school, teachers will send out an iPad check out form. Please be sure to return this form as soon as possible. iPads will not be sent home until this form is returned to your classroom teacher. Enclosed is the iPad insurance form. For a nominal fee, you can insure your child's iPad for the entire school year.
