In December 2016, Foxwood's contribution to the Connecticut Special Revenue Fund was $9.4 million, with cumulative contributions to the state exceeding $3.9 billion since Foxwood opened in 1992.
The property brightened the mood in December, starting with the Foxwoods Holiday Slot Tournament, which awards guests more than $40,000 in cash and merchandise throughout the month. Guests were presented with a bigger chance to win as Foxwood announced a dream wedding giveaway that offered future newlyweds across the country the chance for a high-stakes, all-expenses-paid celebration as part of the property's 25th anniversary celebration in February.
This December, Foxwood's entertainment slate was full of world-class talent, including performances by reggaeton sensation Nikki Jam and Grammy-winning superstar Mark Anthony. Comedy fans were treated to performances from legendary comic Jerry Seinfeld and acclaimed Mike Epps at the state-of-the-art Grand Theater. Foxwoods got off to a big start at a Foxwood Winter Wonderland New Year's Eve event hosted by reality superstar Coco, who celebrated her 16th wedding anniversary with a packed audience for rapper-turned-actor Ice-T and Grand Pequart Ballroom in 2017.
January is off to a uniquely hot start as Foxwood announced the region's first exclusive new Broadway series featuring multi-show performances of the Broadway classics "42nd Street," "Pippin," and "Mamma Mia." The excitement continues with performances by the greatest Soul Gladys Knight of all time and boisterous comedians Artie Lang and Bob Marley. The property is also excited to host the third annual Red Sox Winter Weekend, which returns to Foxwood from Jan. 20-23. Foxwood's 25th anniversary week is fast approaching, starting with a must-see concert on Feb. 15, with pop phenom Kesha taking to the big screen and Motown legend Smokey Robinson playing Fox Theater.
