Foxwoods Resort Casino reported December 2016 slot earnings of $35.3 million. That figure represents a 6.4% decrease compared to $37.7 million in December 2015. Handling for the month was $465.7 million, down 0.07% from $466 million in the same month in 2015.
In December 2016, Foxwood's contribution to the Connecticut Special Revenue Fund was $9.4 million, with cumulative contributions to the state exceeding $3.9 billion since Foxwood opened in 1992.
The property brightened the mood in December, starting with the Foxwoods Holiday Slot Tournament, which awards guests more than $40,000 in cash and merchandise throughout the month. January is off to a uniquely hot start as Foxwood announced the region's first exclusive new Broadway series featuring multi-show performances of the Broadway classics "42nd Street," "Pippin," and "Mamma Mia." The excitement continues with performances by the greatest Soul Gladys Knight of all time and boisterous comedians Artie Lang and Bob Marley. The property is also excited to host the third annual Red Sox Winter Weekend, which returns to Foxwood from Jan. 20-23. Foxwood's 25th anniversary week is fast approaching, starting with a must-see concert on Feb. 15, with pop phenom Kesha taking to the big screen and Motown legend Smokey Robinson playing Fox Theater.
