Engineering Design Process
We are excited to invite all Cannon parents & families to experience an Engineering Design Challenge in your child's grade level during this event! Come learn how your child is utilizing the Engineering Design Process in their STEM learning at Cannon.
Check Out The Engineering Activities Planned For This Event!
Parents are invited to participate in the engineering project planned in for your child's grade level(s). Feel free to stop by other grade levels to check out other engineering projects!
Kindergarten: Makey Music
Students will explore sound energy with their families as they work together to code a song using Makey-Makey's.(Electrical Engineering)
1st Grade: Turkey Tech
Maps + Thanksgiving turkeys + robots = Turkey Tech!
Join 1st grade to learn about coding with Sphero, Ozobots, Cubetto, Roamers, Dot and Scratch Jr. (Computer Software Engineering)2nd Grade: Play Dough Properties
Families will engineer a high quality play dough using recipes students created in class. Students will share their understanding of properties of matter and how those properties can change when combined. (Chemical engineering).
3rd Grade: System Models
3rd grade scholars and families will complete the design portion of the Engineering Process by working together to create a moving model of the sun, earth and moon. (Mechanical Engineering)
4th Grade: American Indians - Early Engineers
Come help your student design a device to transport food for a Native American tribe using only the natural resources of the region in which they live. (Civil Engineering)
5th Grade: Critter Crossings
Families will be creating critter covers for their robotic Spheros that represent animals from a variety of biomes. They will use these to test animal crossings in each biome. Come and learn about the animals that inhabit various biomes (Civil and Environmental Engineering).
VISIT THE STEM TRUCK - TAME TRAILBLAZER WILL BE AT CANNON!
TAME's (Texas Alliance for Minorities in Engineering) traveling Trailblazer will be at Cannon on Family Engineering Night!
The Trailblazer is a one-of-a-kind STEM museum-on-wheels. Exciting, hands-on exhibits teach students about energy, space, weather, biotechnology, and aerodynamics while also introducing them to educational and career opportunities in STEM.
The Trailblazer will be open from 5:30-7:30 - 30 minutes before and after Family STEM Night activities in the classroom, which will be open from 6:00-7:00 pm.
Don't Forget To Shop The Book Fair!
