Friday, February 4, 2022: Front Office Staff will be having a meeting so the office will be closing early. The office will close at 3:15.

Visit Parent Connect to learn about your student's grade marks, missing assignments, attendance and tardiness. If you do not have an account please contact the office. You can also have your student sign into their own Student Connect account to view their work.

As a reminder please go over the following with your student:

Tardiness: Are your students arriving at school on time and the other periods?

Please visit the Student or Parent connect to verify your student's tardiness. Please remind your student to transition from period to period promptly. All students are expected to arrive at class on time and avoid delay.

Inappropriate Items for School: Are you checking your student's backpacks to ensure they carry only school materials and supplies? Thank you for helping and checking the backpack.

Uniform: Do you verify that your student is wearing the appropriate uniform blouse/shirt and pants or skirt? Please see the uniform images below to ensure your child is wearing the correct attire. We do not want to bother you to bring your student a change of clothing by confirming they leave your home prepared for a successful day at GREEN.

Attention Wonderful 8th-Grade Students & Families

The eighth-grade teachers are meeting with the high schools to learn about the various high school programs. During the next two months, our fabulous 8th graders will have an opportunity to gain knowledge about high school pathways/programs, meet with their high school counselor and obtain registration dates.

As a reminder, at no time is it acceptable to send students to school when they are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, and especially if they have received a positive test result (laboratory based OR at-home test). Please make sure to report all positive cases to your students’ school.

Students are to stay HOME if:

-If your student does not feel well, keep them home.

-If your student has any COVID-like symptoms, keep them home.

-If your student is unvaccinated and was a close contact to someone who was COVID positive, they must quarantine at home even if they do not have any symptoms.

Home tests or antigen tests are now accepted

7th-Grade language arts students in Ms. Rings' class recently had a guest speaker, Fernando Salinas, from California Poets present to the class. Students practiced writing skills they have developed in class to describe and write about found images

8th-grade Language Arts students in Ms. Hijaz's class finished reading The Hate U Give. After reading The Hate U Give novel, students demonstrated their understanding through art and writing. Students did a great job portraying the main characters and expressing themselves.

AVID students continue to participate in tutorials, where they help each other in their academic pursuits. In addition, they have been conducting research on colleges and creating a collaborative art project.

The local high schools are preparing for our Green students to join the OUHSD family. Our students will be previewing the High School Roadshow in a couple of weeks, where they will be informed about the different pathways the local high schools offer. In preparation for the move to high school, parents are encouraged to fill out the Online Enrollment Form as soon as possible. More information about the local high school and the events will be confirmed. Reminders will be sent via text notifications.

Oxnard High School

Oxnard High will have their evening online enrollment on February 8th and February 9th from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm. Makeups will be on February 15th from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm. Staff will be at Oxnard High to assist parents with their enrollment and take any documents they need to turn in. English assistance is February 8th and Spanish is February 9th. Parents, please enroll your student(s) prior to meeting with Oxnard High for course requests.

Another option for your student is Oxnard Middle College High School. Attached below is more information about OMCHS, an application form, and a flyer about their informational nights (January 24 & 27, 2022 & February 3 & 16, 2022).

Students who have not picked up their at-home Covid test may have their guardian pick one up from the E.O. Green office. These tests were provided by the state for each student in the Hueneme Elementary School District.

The US Government is now sending FREE Covid tests to all households in the United States. To sign up for your 4 free Covid Tests at https://www.covidtests.gov/. The website will take you to the USPS website to sign up for your free tests.

Testing is available to all HESD staff and students ONLY. The testing site is paid through special state grant funds, therefore it is NOT available to the public, including staff and student family members who are not associated with the District.

Please read the attached letter from HESD for more information.

ENGLISH SPANISH

There are two testing locations:

Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays: Blackstock Junior High School, 701 E. Bard Road

Tuesdays and Thursdays: Haycox Elementary School, 5400 Perkins Road

Testing hours are10:00-4:00 at each location. Both testing sites are walk-up only, no appointments necessary.
