I want to first extend my heartfelt thank you for the support we received with our early release on Tuesday. Everyone was so kind and patient as we released kids. I am so thankful for our wonderful community.

Such amazing things have been happening at the K-3 campus this week. Our students have been working incredibly hard this month on earning crests. As of Friday morning, students have earned 23,130 crests in the month of February. What an awesome testament to the wonderful students that are at New Vision Charter School. Awesome students are raised by incredible parents and fantastic teachers and we are so happy that you are part of the New Vision Family.

Thanks to our Wellness Committee, a tower garden has been purchased and 1st grade has planted their 1st seeds. We can't wait to see them grow and watch the children experience new things. Talk about engagement in learning.

Have you placed your book fair order yet? Purchasing from our book fair is a win win. Your child gets books to add to their library and our library earns books. What a great way to celebrate a culture of literacy.

How is it already the end of February?! Time has flown by since we have been able have all students back to 100% full time in person learning. This week was a fun one. We celebrated our class that had the highest growth rates on iReady from our Mid Year Diagnostic with a pizza party (great job to Mr. G's class), celebrated the end of a successful girls volleyball season, and students got to participate in some great activities (egg drops in STEM were a highlight). We know this is a different year, but we are trying to celebrate students as much as possible and make their school days memorable!

Data Driven Instruction

Our students are in the midst of an iReady progress monitor assessment, some took this last week, that will tell us how they are progessing this school year. This local data is important for us to ensure students are getting the differentiation they need during the school day. Other data sources for us include Lexia, Prodigy, grades, and attendance.

Parent Teacher Conferences:

Parent teacher conferences are right around the corner. Spring conferences will be held virtually (via Google Meets) on March 10th and 11th. A conference sign up email will be sent to all parents Monday, February 22 at 10 am. Middle School Parents, please sign up for slots with your student's teachers and not just their homeroom teachers.

ATTENTION ALL MIDDLE SCHOOL BOYS: If you enjoy dribbling, passing, shooting, rebounding, and representing NVCS- then Basketball is the sport for you!! Tryouts for Boys Basketball will be Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday 2/22, 2/23, 2/24. You must attend two of these tryout dates. Good Luck to our student/athletes.

New Vision Charter School is enrolling for the 2021-2022 school year and we want your referral! By simply telling your family and friends all the great things that are happening at New Vision and telling them to enroll you could get your 2021-2022 Student Fees waived. If they enroll and start New Vision in the fall, we will waive your student fees (not including athletic fees). It is a win-win.

We are so excited for our Virtual Book Fair! This is an awesome way to get books into your kids' hands and support the school at the same time. Check out the below links and watch social media over the next week. You can place your order online on February 14. Help us reach our goal of 313 books.

We raised over $900.00 for the Uganda School of Convoy and Hope with out Valentine's Day Jewelry fundraiser! Because of the large amount of orders and interest there were some hiccups and some people did not receive their orders. Thompson School District COVID-19 Testing for Staff and Students

How do I get tested for COVID-19?

In partnership with the Larimer County Department of Health and Environment (LCDHE), TSD staff and students ages five (5) and older will be able to access free COVID-19 testing through the district. Staff and students will register through LCDHE’s COVID-19 testing portal. Registration will open at least two days prior to the testing event. TSD staff and students will use a link provided and a pin specific to the TSD testing events.

What should I expect when I arrive at the TSD testing center?

• Expect to be greeted and asked for your TSD badge/ photo ID. If you do not have a TSD badge, staff will verify your eligibility in our student/staff record system.

• You must wear your mask/face covering.

• You must sign a liability waiver. If the individual is under 18 years of age, their parent/guardian must be present to sign the waiver.

• You will be given a label that aids with reporting results.

• Note: Parents/Guardians must be able to safely control their minor child or we may be unable to perform the test due to safety concerns.

COVID-19 Testing Information:

Symptomatic (sick)--RAPID TEST*

• Details: The Health Services Team will only administer tests to people who have at least one COVID-19 symptom and are at least 5 years old

• Location: Ray Patterson Stadium at Thompson Valley High School (1669 Eagle Drive; Access testing site from Eagle Drive)

• Days: Monday, Wednesday and Friday (excluding holidays; Student testing beginning January 20, 2021)

• Time: 6:30-8:30 a.m.

• Results: Same day email

Asymptomatic/Symptomatic--PCR TEST*

• Details: This testing can be completed on people with or without COVID-19 symptoms and are at least 5 years old

• Location: Thompson School District Administration building (800 S. Taft Avenue; Access the testing center from Carlisle and Taft (near Ziggi’s Coffee).

• Days: Wednesday (excluding holidays; Student testing beginning January 20, 2021)

• Time: 3:00-5:00 p.m.

• Results: Typically available within 2-5 days and will be sent by email. There are sometimes delays at the lab and some results could take longer. If you do not receive your results from LCDHE within this timeframe, please call 970-498-5500 (Monday-Friday 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m.) or text LCDHE anytime at 970-999-1770.

* Both tests are completed using a nasal swab procedure

Parent Teacher Conferences: Please mark your calendars for conferences on March 10th and March 11th. Conferences will be held virtually through Google Meet. End of Quarter 3: Quarter 3 ends on Thursday, March 11. Students need to be caught up with assignments by 5pm.
