Welcome Back to School - Monday, November 4, 2019
Village School Opening Monday, November 4, 2019
Reminder that daylight savings ends on Sunday, November 3rd at 2:00 a.m. Therefore, we can put our clocks back 1 hour. That means that we get to sleep-in for an additional hour but it will be dark when we have to wake up for school.
FALL BACK
Don't Forget to Change Your Clocks!
Air Quality Precautions for November
Safety is our first priority and for the month of November until the rains come, we will be monitoring airnow.gov for air quality. Students will be kept indoors for recesses, lunch and P.E. if the air quality is not in the green zone. If the zone is yellow students with asthma will be kept in doors and outside play will be limited for the rest of the students.
Thank You Again First Responders!
The students rolled out the red carpet and created thank you posters for all the first responders in 2017! Once again Village sends a big heartfelt THANK YOU to all of these heroes.
Principal's Message
Wednesday, October 30, 2019
The Kincaid Fire has surely devastated our community again with power outages, evacuations and anxiety. However, I know we are Village Strong and we look forward to seeing our students on Monday. I know it is not going to be easy and students will be anxious. Teachers will be very proactive and understanding and will be holding circles to reaasure students that school is safe and for students to start processing what they have experienced with the fire. Teachers are very well trained at conducting these restorative circles to help students cope with anxiety. If students need additional support, we also have our counselor for support on Monday.
Students are welcome to bring stuffed animals on Monday to help them cope with coming back to school. We know and understand how comforting stuffed animals are for children. Of course, this is optional for students.
Our students will have missed the many Halloween parties and parade. Rather than reschedule this event we are holding a school-wide Pajama Day on Wednesday, November 6th. Teachers will be reaching out to parents on their specific plans for any additional events for Pajama Day.
I hope the news continues to be positive on the fire containment with families being given the green light to go back to their homes and to have power. My thoughts and good wishes are with you all during this difficult time. We are Village Strong!
Halloween Pictures - Please Take and Send
I hope everyone enjoys trick or treating with their childen tomorrow night. Since we are not able to celebrate this day with your children, I am asking for your Halloween pictures. Send me a picture of your child dressed up and I will upload them and create a movie for the children to enjoy on Pajama Day. Just upload your picture to cholt@rvusd.org. With your permission, I will also share it on the website.
