March 2023 Issue 2
Message from Head of School, Matt McCrea
Dear Families,
I hope that everyone is well and adjusted to "springing forward" from the Daylight Savings Time change on Sunday! I know it's difficult for many of us but please be sure to take care of yourself as the time difference settles in.
Meridian is officially in enrollment season for the next school year. Please be sure to complete the necessary forms with our enrollment team as soon as possible. The information you need to complete everything is in the newsletter below. If you know any friends, neighbors, or family members that are looking for a great school for next year, please refer them to Meridian.
For our current fifth grade families making the transition to our middle school campus, please remember that there's no need to apply through the lottery to our middle school, and that you automatically have a seat saved for you. We will be having a number of events to help you get to know our vibrant middle school community and our outstanding middle school principal better in the coming weeks and months, and if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to me or a member of the team and we'd be happy to assist.
Have a great weekend and we look forward to seeing you soon!
Mr. McCrea

SY 2023-2024 Enrollment
We are excited to announce the start of re-enrollment for the upcoming 2023-2024 school year! Current families are not required to visit myschooldc.org to re-enroll. However, there are two steps that must be completed by all families to officially re-enroll at Meridian Public Charter School:
STEP 1 - Complete online registration by Thursday, March 31, 2023. All links and unique snap codes have been emailed and texted to all current families.
STEP 2 – Complete and Submit Valid Residency Verification and D.C. Residency Verification Forms online (links will be sent via email and text) or in-person beginning on/about Monday, April 3, 2023, until Friday, June 2, 2023. Start preparing NOW for STEP 2! For example, update your address with DC DMV so your driver's license matches other documents, verify that your paystub has your correct address, or find a copy of your apartment lease. REMEMBER the person enrolling a student in any public school in DC is REQUIRED to submit residency verification EACH YEAR.
If you need assistance to complete registration, please visit either campus between the hours below.

Library Corner Updates from Ms. Beisso
There's been a lot of joy in this little corner of the MPR, with kids of all grades and parents coming by and checking out books. We've even developed some "regulars" which is very exciting!! We currently have 58 books checked out, not bad for our third week! So far, here's some of what's cool at Meridian Public Charter School:
- Dog Man, Dork Diaries, and Diary of a Wimpy Kid series (thanks to Mrs. Durham and Ms. Larry for the intel on these!!!)
- Sonic books
- Princess-themed books
- A lot of books for Black History Month got picked up Mae Among the Stars and books about Ruby Bridges were big hits in particular!
- Books in Spanish, Arabic, K'iche', and Mam
Right now, the rule is 1 book at a time. However, when kids earn a certain number of points/show substantial growth in class, they can receive a coupon for 2 or even 3 books! Also, families, if you come to the library corner with your child to pick out a book to read with your child and they will get an additional book!
Remember the library corner located in the Multipurpose room is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 3:30-4:00 pm! However, this week it is closed for the book fair.
