RCE Family Update

It's so nice to be in the fall season with cool mornings and changing leaves. We have had a great start to our school year and look forward to having a successful second quarter!

Thomas

October 24th - October 28th is our Student Council sponsored Spirit Week. Below you will see a breakdown of each day. Students are encouraged to dress up and participate for each of the days. Please remember that the school dress code will be enforced each day.

The testing window for Winter MAP testing will open once we return from Thanksgiving break. RCE plans to give the Winter MAP test in ELA classes on November 29th and 30th. Winter MAP testing in Math classes will take place on December 1st and December 2nd. Please make sure Chromebooks come to school fully charged on these testing dates!

Football

Congratulations to our 8th grade football team for their 3rd AOP Conference Championship in a row! Our undefeated panthers have outscored their opponents 250-22, so far. Come out and support them this Thursday as we host Seneca!

Participation

Anyone interested in playing BASKETBALL needs to have their 2022-23 paperwork completed in PlanetHS (link) prior to participation.

Eligibility

Per the South Carolina High School League (SCHSL), all 7th and 8th graders are eligible to play sports. 6th graders can contact individual coaches for possible managing opportunities.

Tickets

Edwards Middle and Daniel High will continue using Hometown Ticketing for all ticket sales. Ticket prices for all 2022-23 athletic events will be $6 and will be open to purchase 3 days prior to each event. RCE Tickets (link)

Booster Club

The RC Edwards Athletic Booster Club supports all student athletic programs through purchasing equipment, uniforms, meals, maintenance, and many other things. We started the month of October with a fun take on a penny war, calling this fundraising opportunity the "Cash Cow". Grade levels competed to earn the most point by bringing in dollars and coins that held various point values. Each of our three administrators partnered with a grade level and agreed to kiss a cow if their grade level had the most points. Our sixth grade came out victorious, therefore Mr. Preisig had to pucker up during all three lunches on October 14th. Our PTSO was able to raise over $600 during this time.

It's not too late to join the PTSO. Please help us to continually make the 2022-23 school year a memorable one by joining the PTSO.

As a reminder, we operate on a 6-period day at Edwards Middle. This schedule allows for 1 hour in each period and the opportunity to participate in several related arts classes. This schedule has also allowed us to include several Pickens County Career and Technology courses for our 8th graders during second semester.
