The Western US and Northern Mexico are Experiencing their Worst Drought in Years
The western megadrought is very bad. The western US and northern Mexico have been experiencing a drought. Studies have shown that this has been going on for the last two decades. This is their worst drought since at least 800 AD. The researchers have concluded that the cause of the drought is about one fifth of human caused climate change. Lake Mead and Lake Powell are two of the US largest reservoirs. They are down to one third capacity. This is causing many problems. Lack of water can be a large problem.

Superbowl LVI
This is what all of the season games have led up to the biggest game of the year. This game was between the best of the best two teams from this year, the Las Vegas Rams and the Cincinnati Bengals. The first quarter started off slow for both teams. The Rams were trying the rushing game a good bit in the first quarter. But that was not working with a total of 43 rushing yards the whole game. Then they switched to the passing game and were marching down the field, with Matthew Stafford making a great pass to Odell Beckham Jr for a td. The Bengals had nothing working for them in the first and ended up with a field goal late in the first quarter. Second quarter the Bengals picked it up and scored a touchdown on a pass play to Tee Higgins from Joe Burrow. The Rams couldn get anything rolling in the second quarter and ended up with a field goal, going into halftime up 13-10.
In the third quarter the Bengals came out strong with a 75 yard touchdown to Tee Higgins. And they got a field goal later in the third quarter,And again the Rams only got a field goal in the third quarter. Which puts the Bengals up 20-16 going into the fourth quarter. Going into the fourth nothing was working for either team and it was really slow. Then Cooper Kupp and Matthew Stafford took the team down to the 5 yard line. With multiple flags thrown Cooper Kupp makes a clutch touchdown with 1 minute left on the clock. With that the Defense stopped the Bengals and the Rams won the super bowl 23-20. Cooper Kupp won superbowl MVP with 8 receptions 92 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Names of Schools Being Changed in California While the City is trying to Survive a Pandemic
The school boards considered changing the names of 44 different schools due to Covid-19. The city was still trying to safely open their school back up. More than 70% of voters supported it. The effort was planted earlier in the Covid pandemic. The voters wanted to focus on the more important issues. They wanted a better runed school system over a new name. They were paying people to sign a petition (22 dollars per signature). Most of the people who were signing the petition lived out of state. They probably did not even know what the petition was for because it did not even have anything to do with them. The recall campaign made nearly 2 million dollars. The board took a vote and decided to leave the names as they were.

Russian teen figure skater ‘Kamila Valieva’ was cleared to compete at the Olympics despite a positive drug test
The Court of Arbitration for Sport ruled Monday in favor of the russian figure skating superstar and the country’s anti-doping agency, dismissing the provisional suspension that Valieva, 15 years of age, would have otherwise faced after she tested positive for a banned heart medication.
The CAS panel registration proclaimed her positive test was “not her fault” and noted her special status as a “protected person” under world anti-doping rules, because she is not yet 16.
“It also sparked immediate backlash, including from the U.S Olympic and Paralympic Committee. Sarah Hirshland, the CEO of the USOPC, said it was “disappointed by the message the decision sends.”
CEO Brennan: “What a slap in the face the Kamila Valieva decision is for athletes who don’t cheat.”
For it being not Valieva’s fault she was cleared to compete at the 2022 Winter Olympics.
The IOC and ISU said they were still reviewing the decision as of late Monday afternoon. WADA issued a strong rebuke - pointing out that the CAS ruling appears to carve out an exemption with anti-doping rules that does not exist.
The reigning Russian and European champion, Valieva helped Russia win gold in the team figure skating event at the games late last week with pair of dazzling performances. She also became the first woman to ever land a quadruple jump at the Olympics.

Trudeau envokes Emergencies act for first time in Canadian History
For weeks now the Canadian Freedom Convoy has been among the biggest protests against the Covid mandates in the world. However the Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has used the emergency act in an attempt to shut down the protest. But hours after the act was evoked, protests continued. A Trucker Jan Groen referred to the use of the emergency act as disgusting. He called ¨He just keeps grabbing more power, digging deeper, we just want to talk¨ Groen said in a Fox News interview. Canada's emergencies Act broadens the Canadian government's authority to deal with what they consider emergency situations. Trudeau claims that his action would be used to ¨Strengthen and support law enforcement agencies.¨ He also claims that this is about ¨Keeping Canadians safe and stopping illegal and dangerous activities.¨ Many Truckers had experienced the consequences of the action used by the Canadian Government.
