Caregiver Update
Watch us SOAR!
Dear Clough Families,
It is definitely sweater weather time! I don't know about you, but I often feel like a broken record as I remind my own children to wear their coats everyday. This is always an interesting time in schools. We have a few weeks before winter break, and the kids are all slightly excited about the upcoming break and holidays. But there is lots of learning still happening, and our Clough teachers are working hard to keep kids engaged and focused during this time period between Thanksgiving and winter break.
We are excited to be planning for a Family Math Night at Clough. This will take place on Wednesday, Dec. 20 from 6:00-7:00pm. We will have several reps from ST Math attending and running one of the stations. Families will be able to play math games together, do some math writing, visit an estimation station, and much more! We will also be giving away prizes throughout the night, and every family will be going home with some fun math tools so they can keep playing math games at home together.
We are also planning on another book swap on the day before winter break, December 22. We have a box in the lobby to collect gently used books. Perfect time to clear off your bookshelves at home. The book swap will help all of our students go home over winter break with some new reading!
I have received some feedback from families that they don't know when certain days are happening, such as half days or no school days or special events. I want to remind people of the various places where they can find this information:
**We post upcoming dates on the sign outside of the school on North Ave..
**At the bottom of the caregiver updates, we list important upcoming dates to remember.
**The lunch menus also have the half days and no school days listed.
**On the district website, there is a district school year calendar posted.
**On the Clough website, the events are listed on the front page and when you click on "all events" you can do a calendar view.
**We try to share out days and other events through social media.
**The PTO also tries to post upcoming dates.
Sincerely,
Liz Garden
Clough Principal
P.S. Check out the flyer below...don't worry about cooking dinner Wednesday night and head to Papa Gino's to support the PTO!
Choose To Be Nice
We will be talking to students throughout the year about different core values such as kindness, respect, teamwork, acceptance, patience and several other important values. We are utilizing the Choose To Be Nice program for resources and activities. They have resources for families that can be found here:
https://choosetobenice.com/home-community-resources/Here's a home banner of our Choose To Be Nice pledge. Families can take the pledge together and sign their own banner!
They also have a spot on their website where you can order Choose To Be Nice gear: https://choosetobenice.com/the-shop/
