Principal's Message
Happy Friday Cougar Families!
I hope you are all having a safe and healthy week. As many of you are aware, there were reports in the news this week about a high number of student absences at nearby schools due to non-COVID respiratory illness.
Excessive student absences disrupt the learning progress for all. Steele Canyon saw a slight increase in absences due to sickness in September but, our attendance rate for the current month is over 94%.
The global health community is expecting a particularly fierce flu-season this year and there is concern based on the attendance data at other schools that it is arriving early. We encourage all of our families to encourage good hygiene, stay home when sick, and utilize all measures to boost your immune system.
Lastly I want to invite you all to the last home game of the regular season tonight against Helix. We will be honoring Breast Cancer awareness month so please wear pink and help us celebrate senior night!
We are all better when you are here!
Have a great weekend.

Suicide Prevention 101 Webinar
As we continue through challenging and unconventional times, it is important that we are alert and paying attention to the mental health of our children and teens. The California Department of Education, Directing Change, and TeenLine are hosting a free webinar and Facebook Live event: Suicide Prevention 101 for Parents: Recognizing Signs and What to Do. This free webinar will provide information about suicide prevention for parents, including warning signs for suicide, how to have a conversation with their teen, actions to take if their teen is having a suicidal thoughts, and resources. The webinar is provided in partnership with the California Department of Education, the Directing Change Program, and Teen Line.
