Reminders for Textbook/MacBook Pickup
Good afternoon,
I hope your summer is going well. The 23-24 school year is fast approaching so I wanted to take a moment to send out some quick reminders for the Textbook/MacBook pickup process this school year.
Textbook and MacBook Pickup Dates and Times
New this year:
As you now know, students are required to pick up their own textbooks and MacBook. I recognize that this is a new requirement, so please reach out to me with any conflicts, but please make every effort to make the time available work. If your student can’t make it for Textbook and MacBook pickup, please reach out to Frank Lesniak. For future years LFHS will attempt to be consistent with the textbook pickup dates/times/expectations so you can plan to have students available on Thursday and Friday the week before school starts. Thank you for making this work on short notice.
Reminders:
Please park/drop off in the front and enter the front commons entrance.
The textbook and MacBook pickup will take place in the library.
Students will also receive their Student ID, Student Handbook and Yearbook.
Students that got senior parking will also be issued their parking pass.
Textbooks and MacBooks are rentals, so please encourage your students to take good care of everything they receive.
Every LFHS student will be issued a brand new MacBook!!!
Device Guidelines:
To foster a conducive learning environment, it is crucial that all students adhere to our classroom device guidelines. Our dedicated technology support team is ready to assist students, parents, and staff with any issues related to school-issued devices and technology accounts.
- School-Issued Devices: Only school-issued devices will be permitted for use during class hours. Each teacher will communicate specific expectations for their courses, but it is expected that every student brings their charged school-issued MacBook to class. This ensures access to our appropriately filtered student network, access to all tools and applications needed for coursework, and facilitates the use of school-issued devices during tests.
- Personal Devices: Personal devices, including personal MacBooks, should only be used outside of school hours and should not be connected to the student network.
- Clear Cases: While cases are not mandatory, if used, only clear cases are allowed for student school-issued MacBooks (Model: MacBook 13.3" A2337). Clear cases allow for the prominent display of LFHS labels and asset tags, which must be clearly visible and not obstructed by any decals applied to the cases.
Messaging and Social Media:
During instructional hours, messaging through school-issued MacBooks will be restricted, and social messaging on any platform is strictly prohibited. Collaborative messaging for class projects is subject to teacher discretion.
Device Management and Care:
To maintain the effectiveness and longevity of school-issued devices, it is essential that students take good care of them. Please note the following:
Broken devices should be promptly turned in for repair.
No stickers may be placed on the devices, only on a clear case as noted above.
Lost or stolen devices must be reported to the Deans' office immediately.
Each school-issued MacBook is covered for up to 2 repair incidents per year per device. Any avoidable damage beyond these incidents may incur repair costs added to student fees.
Technical Support:
For any MacBook or Google account issues, please contact our Technology Help Desk in person, via email (help@lfschools.net), or through the help ticket system at help.lfschools.net. Additionally, for Schoology, PowerSchool, or other resource-related concerns, please reach out to the Ed Tech team on the upper floor of the Library.
Exciting Changes Ahead:
This year, both teachers and students will be utilizing the same classroom technology devices, offering enhanced collaboration and presentation options. This change aims to streamline the learning process and allow teachers more time to focus on their subjects without unexpected technology challenges.
We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we strive to create a conducive and technologically progressive learning environment for all our students. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to us.
Thank you for your ongoing support.
