A short message from Mr. Schulte-
It has been an excellent start to the school year! I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the school year thus far! I have enjoyed getting to see so many familiar faces and reconnecting with the Archie community. I have been humbled by the warm welcome I have received from the students, staff, and parents! I look forward to continuing working with our students and seeing their successes throughout the year.
Parent Teacher conferences will be on Wednesday, Oct. 25th from 1:30 PM- 7:30 PM and Thursday, Oct. 26th from 12:00 PM- 8:00PM. This fall we will host traditional parent teacher conferences where parents may speak with their child's teachers. Student led conferences will be moved to the spring and combined with enrollment. Invites with more information will come soon. Please contact your child's teacher any time you have questions or concerns. I encourage you to check grades in the SIS parent portal frequently. Our goal is to work together so that all students can be successful!

Medication Information
Students may not have any medication, prescription or over the counter (OTC), in their possession during the school day which includes during bus transportation. Medication should be delivered to school by the student’s parent/guardian in the original packaging that identifies the medication, person the medication is prescribed to and the dosage prescribed. Prescription medication for students must have written directions from a physician and must be prescribed for that student in order for us to allow medication to be dispensed. If a student is taking medication, the medicine must be kept in the nurse’s office. The student will take the medication under the supervision of the health aide. ALL medication (prescription or OTC) needs to be provided by the student’s parents.

Busy September
Football Players Welcoming Whirlwinds
The football team has been greeting students every Friday. This allows for our players to have positive interaction with little ones. Our younger students enjoy seeing them each week.
Don't miss the last regular season football game on October 12th; it is Senior Night too! Our Whirlwinds remain undefeated this season!
Successful Sundaes
Students who scored advanced or proficient on the MAP test in the spring of 2023 celebrated their academic success with an ice cream sundae.
Whirlwind Volleyball
Our Whirlwinds fell to the Orioles in the championship game at the Archie Tournament. They finished 2nd after going undefeated in pool play. Be sure to come out to Little League Night, Pink Out Night, and Senior Night to support our team! We would love to see a big crowd at districts, too!
JH Volleyball
The JH Volleyball team has placed 1st and 3rd in tournaments this season. If you haven't made it out to watch this team, it is not too late! Their last tournament is this weekend, October 7th at Archie. It would great to see you there!
JH Football
The JH Football team remains undefeated with just two games left in the season. Monday, October 2nd is their last home game. Come on out to support this team!
Marching Band Season
The Whirlwind Band marched in the Archie Fall Festival parade. They have several upcoming events to show off their talent!

You Matter Archie
You Matter Archie greets students and staff once a month with a special treat. This organization has also partnered with the school to provide additional resources for mental health including supplies for our calming space.
Whirlwind Wall of Honor Bricks
The Whirlwinds Booster Club is looking for a few more interested fans, community members or alumni to purchase a brick to be engraved. The bricks are located at the Archie Sports Complex.
News from Academic Services
Hello! Welcome to Academic Services! My name is Michelle Mell, and this is my first year as our district Academic Services Director. I am not new to Archie, having taught 4th grade here for the past five years. Prior to that I was an assistant principal at a high school in North Carolina. I am excited to be in this new position and am learning something new daily! Currently, we are working diligently to create a scholarship database to add to our school website so that parents and students can look in one place to learn about scholarship opportunities. Be on the lookout; it is coming soon!
FAFSA
If you were wondering why you haven’t heard anything in regards to FAFSA® (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) it is because the 2024–25 FAFSA® form will be available in December 2023, not October 1. At this time you can visit Student Aid for updates. In order to apply for federal aid you must create an account and an ID. Details on how this can be done will be shared on the school website and by email in the coming months.
ACT Workshop
On Tuesday, November 21 from 8AM-12PM, UCM will host an ACT Workshop via ITV at Archie, or students can attend in person at UCM. Permission forms will be available from Academic Services soon. Be on the lookout for an email and information posted in students’ Google Classrooms regarding how to enroll for this event.
Don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions for me. I look forward to learning with you in my new position!
