Hilltop Elementary School

Thank you for a wonderful Open House! We hope you and your Hilltopper enjoyed it as much as we did!

Reminder: All back-to-school forms, documents, and contact information updates must be completed via the Parent Portal by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, September 1. Please see the August 17 communication from Mr. Mucha for specific details.

Please refer to the email from the Business Office, sent on August 22, for information regarding school lunches.

All students will be meeting with Mr. Mucha during the first days of school, which will include a review of important expectations.

Important Drop-off/Pick-up

To ensure the safety of our students and staff, please adhere to the following procedures for pick-up and drop-off:

Drop Off

Kindergarten and 1st grade students will line up in the front of the building. 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade students will line up on the back patio. There will also be two staff members at each location during morning supervision, which will begin at 8:15am.

All students will exit their vehicles at the yellow Hilltop Flag that is located along driveway. Officer Wade Ryerson will be stationed at the Hilltop Flag to assist with the car line.

Kindergarten and 1st grade students will walk to Mr. Mucha.2nd,3rd, and 4th grade students will walk down to the patio to the morning supervision staff members.

If you child needs assistance exiting your vehicle, please plan on parking near the school and walk them to their drop off location.

All students will enter the building at 8:30am

Pick-Up

Recently an email was sent to new families from Pick up Patrol with instructions on how to set up your account. If you have not done so already, please make sure that you are able to log in and have a set default dismissal plan for each of your children.

All returning families, please log in to Pick up Patrol to update each of your child's default dismissal plans if necessary. Once you have ensured that the default plan is accurate (even if no changes are made), please confirm that the plan is set.

If a student's dismissal is going to be different from their default plan, please log in to your account prior to 1:00 p.m. to make those changes. Any changes after 1:00 need to be called into Mrs. Austin in the main office.

The first day of school is always a day for celebration. Although we are excited for a new school year to begin, we do understand that your Hilltopper may be a bit nervous for their first day. Below are some tips for a successful start

• Please make sure your child has eaten a healthy breakfast.
• Please send your child in with a healthy snack and water bottle. Glass bottles are not allowed.
• Take pictures and share encouraging words with your child. Remind them that everyone at Hilltop cares about them!
• Keep the good-byes short and sweet. We will be there to help any student that needs a little support.
• Have fun!

• Welcome Back! I hope your child had a wonderful summer and enjoyed reading or listening to a variety of books. During the first week of school (Monday 8/28-Friday 9/1), please have your child bring in either their BINGO Board (Grades K-2) or Reading Log (Grades 3-4), so we can celebrate their reading successes from over the summer! Those that bring their BINGO Board or Reading Log will get a chance to choose from my prize box and will be entered in a raffle to win a giftcard to The Mendham Creamery
  

• The HSA's Annual Back to School Coffee will be held at Dunkin Donuts, directly following morning drop-off. Swing by for a quick mingle and cup of Joe with other parents of the MBSD after the morning rush! Welcome back!
