On Friday, we all gathered outdoors, to celebrate being back together as a full school. We danced, saluted our flag, played some games, laughed, celebrated students, and talked about Core Values. It was the highlight of the school year for me personally! Mr. Partridge and I were so impressed with the behavior and respect of the entire student body!

Pool testing provides information about where the virus is and can eliminate quarantine requirements for students who participate.

Thank you for your support of the transportation department as we work through the timing of bus pickups in the afternoon. We are still monitoring the timing of buses and hope to have things in a much better place this week. Drop-off and pick-up procedures are going well...I also appreciate your patience as we work around the ongoing construction on Summer Street. As much as possible, we will continue with two pick-up locations with the 3rd grade being separated. It allows the pick-up procedures to be complete in approximately 10-15 minutes.

Please be sure to provide the front office with your proof of residency. As your child transitions from school to school within the district, it is our obligation to collect an updated proof of residency from each family.

Please join the PTO in their first meeting THIS Thursday at 6:00 on the playground at Burns.

Also, the exercise-a-thon is scheduled for September 30th.

FREE Community COVID Vaccine Clinic on Tuesday, September 21st from 3:00-6:00 PM and open to the community (anyone over the age of 12) at Biddeford High School’s Tiger Gym. York County Emergency Management Agency will have all three vaccines available: J&J (one-shot only), Pfizer or Moderna (1st Shot; 2nd shot will need to be scheduled at a different location). Children ages 12-17 are only eligible for the Pfizer vaccine and anyone over the age of 18 may choose J&J, Pfizer, or Moderna. No Booster shots are available at this time. We are thrilled that all youth now have access to free breakfast and lunch (menus linked here).

On the other hand, we are extremely concerned about the impact on school funding--$1.4 MILLION in Saco last year--that is directly linked to the Meal Benefit Application.

We are asking ALL families to please complete the Meal Benefit Application, regardless of eligibility, as the data provided is used to determine our school funding, including Title 1 funds for special education programs; before/after and summer school programs; discounts on laptop insurance and internet; and teacher's student loan forgiveness. All those who complete the form will be automatically entered to win one of five $100 Hannaford gift cards and those who meet certain eligibility requirements could receive additional Pandemic EBT benefits.
