General Announcements

GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

A big shout out to our stuco who put together an amazing welcome back assembly this past Friday! We had a great turn out to the back-to-school stomp as well.

Just a reminder that this upcoming Monday, September 2nd is Labor Day. Consequently, there is no school on that day.

We have our Canvas parent information night Tuesday, Aug 27th @ 6:30pm at the high school. Come learn about how you can use Canvas to help your student.

CLUB APPLICATIONS

We are currently opening up applications for clubs for the upcoming school year. Students can start a club as long as they have a teacher advisor. Applications can be picked up at the front office. All applications must be turned in by September 3rd! Club rush will be during lunch September 4th and 5th.

VISION SCREENING

The Utah Department of Health requires yearly hearing screenings for all 11th grade students, students new to the school, and those considered to be "at risk," such as those receiving special education services. If you do NOT want your child's hearing screened, please email your child's name and grade to jcollingridge@providencehall.com with "Opt-Out" in the subject line, by August 26, 2019. Hearing screenings will commence August 27."

COMMUNITY CONNECTION NIGHT

We are inviting students, parents, and community members to the 2nd Annual Community Connection Night at Chick-fil-a in South Jordan. It is Monday, Sept 9th from 5-8pm. Anyone ages 12-24 get a free 8 piece chicken nugget meal.

The community will be there to talk about suicide prevention. There will be discussions led by teens and young adults with community chalk art, games, and social wellness activities.

COMMUNITY COAT DRIVE

Our school is working with the VOA Homeless Youth shelter in Salt Lake City. We will be hosting a coat drive for the fall and winter months. Collections will be held through the month of September here at the school. There will be drop off buckets here at the school in the front office area.

PARKING PASSES

Students need to make sure they get their parking passes by the end of the week. They can be purchased in the front office. Cost is $10.00. We will start monitoring vehicles starting next week.

GOLF TOURNAMENT

We are holding our annual Patriot Day Golf Tournament Oct 5th at Talons Cove. Cost is $250 for a foursome or $65 for a single. Winning team gets $500. We will give away clubs, swag, and other prizes as part of the competition holes and raffle. Sign up using the following link:

CANVAS PARENT ACCESS

We are excited to add the parent observer portable to our Canvas platform this upcoming year. Canvas is used by teachers and students to post assignments, quizzes, content, and interactive curriculum. Each teacher creates content modules/units that coincide with whats going on in the classroom. This is a great resource to see whats going on and gain access to assignments that your student may be missing. We will be holding a parent Canvas information night Aug 27th at 6:30pm here at the high school.

Attached below is a PDF providing instructions on how to set up your parent observer account. Once you have set it up, go to your google play store or app store and download Canvas parent app. You can then login and have access to your student(s) classes and content. YOU WILL NEED YOUR STUDENT PRESENT WHEN YOU SET UP YOUR PARENT OBSERVER ACCOUNT. The student must generate a pairing code which is described in the instructions.
