This letter is to remind all of our families of the expectations we have regarding Halloween costumes.
**Students in grades K-5 may bring their costumes to school and will change into them prior to their 2:00 PM parade. Costumes should be appropriate for school - no blood and gore, or objects that resemble weapons.
**Students should refrain from having colored hair or makeup on their faces throughout the day.
**Students should not bring or wear anything to school during the day that will be distracting to the learning process.
**The Halloween Parade with costumes will begin at 2:00 PM on October 31, 2023. Parents are invited at 2:00 PM to view the costume parade. We ask that you wait outside of the school to view the parade. The map highlights the parade route in yellow. You may stand anywhere along the parade route to view the parade.
**The Halloween parties will take place in each classroom at the conclusion of the parade. Those parents who have signed up either as the classroom party coordinator or a party participant (assist party coordinator) will be allowed to attend the Halloween parties.
We appreciate your cooperation with these expectations.
Vision and hearing screening will be completed this school year, as mandated for the following children:
Vision: Pre-K, Kindergarten (without proof of eye exam), 2nd, all new students to the district and students receiving special education services.
Hearing: Pre-K, Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, all new students to the district and students receiving special education services.
Screening will begin taking place starting the week of October 9th.
Vision screening is not a substitute for a complete eye and vision evaluation by an eye doctor. Your child is not required to undergo this vision screening if an optometrist or ophthalmologist has completed and signed a report form indicating that an examination has been administered within the previous 12 months and that evaluation is on file at the school. Vision and hearing screenings are NOT an option. If a vision or hearing examination report is not on file at the school for your child, your child in the mandated grade/group will be screened.
If your child has glasses, please make sure they remember to bring them to school.

All cellular phones, smartphones and other electronic devices must be kept powered-off and out-of-sight during the regular school day unless: (a) the supervising teacher grants permission; (b) use of the device is provided in a student’s individualized education program (IEP); (c) it is used during the student’s lunch period; or (d) it is needed in an emergency that threatens the safety of students, staff, or other individuals. For more information, refer to pages 57 and 58 in the Parent Student Handbook.
Deadline Reminder: ECE and Kindergarten school physical forms and proof of immunization compliance are due NO LATER than October 15th per IL state mandates and school board policy.
Kindergarten vision exam forms are due by October 15th.
