A glimpse at all the amazing things at Hight.
Doing great things for kids.
I am simply amazed when I walk around Hight to see all the opportunities provided for our students to feel successful and part of the Hight community. I wish teachers could see all the incredible things their colleagues are doing for kids. I feel honored to be a part of Hight. The following pictures are just a tiny snapshot into all the great things going on in a single day. Thank you for building a positive and engaging community for our kids and families.
Book Fairs
I am thankful for an awesome PTA who put together an amazing Book Fair. Our kids were SO excited to grab new books and old favorites.
Musicals
I am thankful for all the musicals that teachers use to teach material across the grade levels. Not only are these play rich in content, but are super entertaining as well!
Cheetah Pride
I am thankful for colleagues who embrace the Cheetah spirit and help our students feel safe at school.
Kinder number talks
I am thankful for kindergarten teachers like Ms. Cote who jump into number talks with our youngest learners.
Popsicles!
I am thankful for popsicles and the smiles they bring to our kids' faces.
Connecting with families
I am thankful for the opportunity to work with our community about Common Core math and how it can support our kids.
Number talks as incentive
I am thankful for teachers like Ms. Mohammadi who use number talks as an incentive for good behavior in her classroom since her kids love them so much.
Positive referrals
I am thankful for the ability to make a student's day by writing a positive referral.
Bike safety
I am thankful that our 5th grade teachers are keeping our kids safe by teaching them bike safety on the road.
Team work
I am thankful for teachers who provide their kids opportunities to collaborate with one another while discussing math reasoning.
Community
I am thankful for teachers like Mrs. Martinez who hold daily morning meetings in which her kids connect with one another and share in news and celebrations.
Elementary athletics
I am thankful that we have the opportunity to offer a free sports program for our 4th and 5th graders. These kids have so much school pride and a strong sense of belonging to Hight.
Pancake breakfasts
I am thankful for 5th grade fund-raisers. The pancake breakfast was a great opportunity to raise money for the upcoming Alliance Redwoods trip and a chance for the community to connect with Hight.
Assemblies. And kids who love them.
I am thankful for students who love assemblies as much as I do. I am thankful for students who dance and find chances to let go and be themselves at school.
Hot dog parties
I am thankful to work with teachers like Mr. Greenfield who pull out the hot dog cooker once a month and cook hot dogs for deserving students.
Student recognition
I am thankful to work in a district that recognizes students from Kinder through 12th in their achievements at school and within the community.
Community helpers
I am thankful for students like these two who choose to pick up trash during recess to keep our campus looking great.
Embracing the crazy
I am thankful for teachers who celebrate their students' individuality and recognize that each student has something incredible to offer.
Away games
I am thankful for coaches like Mr. DuVal who are flexible when things get crazy during away games. I am also thankful for all the smiles and laughter I see and hear when our athletes return from their away games.
A focus on positive
I am thankful that I have the opportunity to help shape behavior by rewarding students for desired behavior with Cheetah Tickets. I am incredibly thankful to the teachers who provide me feedback on what is and what is not working for our kids.
