Art & Digital Photography
Digital Photography
Students have worked through many manual camera settings, have started using photoshop, and have learned some composition elements, such as rule of thirds and leading lines. Now we are starting to do some photos that have emotion, or a fun aspect. They are working on levitation and capturing photos that show an emotion. Ask to check out your students work in Flickr.
Towards the end of the semester, students will be building a professional website for their photography and presenting it to the class. This is a great opportunity to talk about their work, practice using the vocabulary, and speaking as a professional photographer would when they present their portfolio.
Art Classes
Work is being selected for an upcoming art show in Staples through NJPA. We are only taking 20 pieces from the school, so it is a great honor to have your work selected. If your student has work going, be sure to congratulate them!

Upcoming Art Grades
4/18-4/20 Grade check-ins
Students have a rubric that we went over in class. Starting 4/18 Mrs. Wiste will meet one on one with students for a grade check. Here is a copy of the rubric. The two blank spots for goals are places where your student wrote down their own goal.
5/4-5/8 Presentation/Critique Practice
Students will be presenting their work to the class. They will be given a rubric telling what is required in the critique/presentation. This one will be a practice for the final presentation later in the quarter. Students will get 20 points for doing the practice (if they try, they get all 20 points), but their actual score on the rubric will just be to let them know how they would have done if this were the final presentation. The final presentation will be 100 points later in the quarter
5/18-5/22 Grade Check-Ins

Final Presentation / Critique (final week of class)
Students will be presenting their work to the class. This will be a repeat of the presentation earlier in class. Critiques are an important part of the artistic process and growth. Students will have a rubric telling what they need to have in their presentation.

We are thinking about hosting a family painting night sometime in May, so watch for details.
