Good Evening Yowell Families,

What an amazing parade to begin the holiday season tonight in Culpeper. It was great to see so many of you at and in the parade. We are truly fortunate to live in a community with so many clubs, groups, churches, and volunteer organizations that create a spectacular place to raise a family. I have to also say we have a pretty great elementary school as well!

This week students in grades 3-5 will participate in the Virginia Math and Reading Student Growth Assessment on Tuesday, December 5 (math) and Thursday, December 7 (reading). These tests are in the afternoon, early dismissals are not recommended as the student could have to start the whole test over the following day.

So far, the Yowell canned food drive is a great success. Thank you for your generosity in helping those in need in our community. There is a change of date for accepting final donations: All donations are due by Monday, Dec. 11.

Yowell SCA is having a fundraiser starting Wednesday, Dec. 13. We will be selling festive wooden ornaments for $1.00 each. Please look for a flyer in your student's Tuesday folder.

Lastly, we are asking our car rider families to make sure they show the BLUE placard each day. We are seeing some red and yellow ones from years past. This is a safety concern because anyone who shows the placard we believe is allowed to pick up. So showing a placard from previous years puts stress on Mrs. O'Hara to have to "know" faces and match with numbers. If you need a new set of blue curbside numbers don't hesitate to get in touch with the office.

In an effort to assist schools and parents with current information about bus changes, transportation has added a new item on their website called: Transportation - Morning Update. The direct link can be found here.

We will be posting departure times for buses each day to assist parents with receiving their child from the bus stop. Please check this document each afternoon.

We are happy to have a School Resource Officer (SRO) this year at Yowell. You can contact Deputy Sinclair with any concerns you have with school safety or anything that would be related to criminal activity.
