Scripture For Grief, Recovery, & Joy for February 25

Today’s Scripture
Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.
Genesis 2:7 NIV
Today's Guide
When preparing for today, think about the following: We Have Been Given the Breath of Life, and it is Up to Us to Make Sure That We Use it for Good.
Food For Thought
Today’s scripture reminds us that when God created man, He formed him from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life. This was done so that man could become a living being made in God's image and with a purpose. This great act of creation is described as God's breath, which quickened the lifeless lump of clay and produced not only a body but also an eternal soul.
By breathing into man the very essence of his Creator, we are given a profound reminder about our value and the importance even our breath has. We should never forget that each one of us has been given something special from God — something to be cherished, respected, and nurtured throughout all our lives. We have been given the breath of life, and it is up to us to make sure that we use it for good.
It's a powerful thought that when we fill our lungs with air and exhale, it is giving an acknowledgment of God. That reminder — that spark of the divine within us — should be motivation enough for us to live better lives and be more loving, kind, and compassionate people each day. It is truly incredible how much power resides in simply taking a single breath. The breath of life has been given to us; what are you going to do today to use it wisely?
Gratitude
When I take a deep breath in and out, it's a reminder of just how special the gift of life is. Gratitude for that gift should come to us naturally — not only for our own lives but also for the lives around us. As you take a deep breath today, what do you find gratitude in?
Today's Prayer
Lord, You formed us from the dust of the Earth. The breath of life was breathed into us by You. Our life was not our doing but Yours. You are our Father, Creator, Savior, and the breath in our lungs. We are Yours; You are ours. I am humbled by Your love, Father. Amen
