Hunt Middle School
2021-2022 School Year Information (originally sent May 13)
Hunt Parents/Guardians & Students,
Our goal at Hunt is to help students become independent learners who primarily utilize parents as a support to help them develop the responsibility and confidence that comes with learning to successfully function in the school environment and advocate for themselves in a positive way. A big part of being a successful middle school student or parent is keeping up with important information and dates.
One easy way to do this is read the newsletters and information that is sent home. I do a newsletter every Friday during the school year for students and parents. I ask that you take a few minutes to look over the newsletter so you have the information you need to be a successful student or successfully support your student. This newsletter provides some basic information so you can prepare for next year. As we get closer to the start of the 21-22 school year, more information will be communicated.
Husky Camp - Our tentative plans for 6th Grade Husky Camp are to offer a mixture of online and in-person activities to help our incoming 6th graders transition to Hunt. Students and parents will receive a link to a Flipgrid in early August that includes a brief introduction to all the teachers and other basic information related to being a new 6th grader at Hunt Middle School. This will be followed by two opportunities to come to Hunt, walk the building, and find your classes before school starts. The time for schedule walks will be a come and go/self-paced event (no formal presentations).
Lockers - Passing periods have been much more peaceful this year and the number of tardies has significantly decreased due to eliminating the use of lockers. Therefore, we will continue our practice of students not utilizing lockers. The supply lists have also been significantly reduced due to the increased use of Chromebooks. Students will be able to carry their belongings from class to class in a backpack. Additionally, students who deliver athletic/fine arts equipment to a class/locker room each morning will continue to do so. Students will not be expected to carry instruments or athletic equipment during the school day.
Schedules - We will continue to release schedules to students electronically via Home Access Center (HAC). Only students who have completed the enrollment process (including submitting a current proof of address) will be able to access their schedules. We do not have a firm date of schedule release at this time. We will communicate one as soon as we have it. This may impact the dates for schedule walks, but we plan to do everything possible to prevent a change in date from occurring.
PBIS - Due to a significant decrease in disciplinary referrals, we will continue the implementation of PBIS at Hunt in 2021-22. This means teachers will spend time at the beginning of each school year teaching students our expectations and procedures so they have an understanding of what is expected when they attend school at Hunt. Additionally, we place a lot of focus and attention on recognizing students who are meeting our expectations throughout the school year.
I hope you each have a great summer and enjoy time with family and friends. We look forward to seeing all of you in August!
Thank you,
Chris Clark, Hunt Principal

- If you did not receive a letter, please email (follow directions above) to inquire if your student is complete or still needs the immunization documentation provided to the nurse office
2021-2022 Incoming 7th Grade Immunization Requirements

Tdap (Adacel, Boostrix) within five years

Personalized letters are being mailed home to inform you what immunizations your student needs to have documented at Hunt to comply, or if they already have these recorded.

If they have not been given yet, please make arrangements to have them receive the vaccines. We need a copy of the updated immunization record when the immunizations are complete.
Students will NOT be allowed to pick up their schedules or start school in August until these immunizations are complete and recorded at Hunt.
Thank you for your understanding and help getting these requirements met.

Algunos estudiantes ya han recibido estas vacunas en sus exámenes físicos a los 11 o 12 años. Consulte con el médico de su estudiante. Si están completos, solicite una copia para enviarla a Hunt.
