Student led Parent/Teacher Conferences are Monday, March 14th. These conferences are your child's opportunity to shine! Students have been preparing for this conference to share with you what they are learning and accomplishing at school. If you haven't had an opportunity to schedule your conference yet with your child's teacher, there is still time! Fall conferences had over 90% family attendance!

Student success at school is Belle Elementary's goal for each student. That goal is better achieved with a partnership focused on student success between the parent and the teacher! Below are a few ideas of how you can become a strong partner in your child's education.

1. Join your child's classroom ClassTag or Class Dojo, it is one of the easiest and free first steps to take when building communciation with your child's teacher and knowing more about your child's day at school. If you aren't signed up, please ask your child's classroom teacher about joining.
2. Look through your child's take home binder/folder with your child. As you look through the binder ask your child questions about the contents. Offer encouragement on graded work and review skills with your child that they struggled on.
3. Read 20 minutes with your child every night. Reading every night with your child for just 20 minutes has been studied as one of the best habits to ensure student success in school. If you need books at home, their are books available to check out at our school library and leveled readers in the Title I room. Also, our community has a wonderful library!
4. Attendance - Attendance directly correlates with student success. When students miss too much school it is difficult and stressful for them to catch up with their class. Making school attendance a priority in your home is a great way to help your child succeed in school.
5. Attend school functions! Open House, Parent/Teacher Conferences, Title I Nights, and other school functions are held throughout the year. These are all great opportunities to visit your child's school and learn more about how their school year is going.

Do you have a child or grandchild who will be ready for Kindergarten next year? We will be holding Kindergarten Round-up on Tuesday, April 5 from 8:00 to 3:30. Your child/grandchild must be 5 years old before August 1, 2022. You will need to bring a birth certificate, immunization records and proof of residency with you to the appointment. Proof of residency includes a tax receipt from the County Collector or a utility bill with your physical address (electric, propane, etc.). The appointment will take 30-45 minutes and you must stay at the appointment while your child is being screened. To make an appointment contact the Elementary Office at 573-859-3800. Kindergarten Round Up will be held at Belle Elementary.

Preschool screening will be held April 5th from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm at Belle Elementary. Students must be 3 years old prior to August 1, 2022. To set up an appointment please call 573-859-3800 ext. 3.

School safety is of utmost importance at Belle Elementary. Safety is of great concern when students enter and exit our campus. One important part of entering and exiting our campus on foot is the use of the school crossing guard. Mr. Rhoads, school crossing guard, is stationed at the crosswalk in front of the administration office. Mr. Rhoads directs traffic and lets students and their families know when it is safe to cross the street. You will find Mr. Rhoads is the first to arrive and the last to leave during arrival and dismissal. Please take the time to use the crosswalk where Mr. Rhoads is stationed, Keeping our students and their famiies safe is of greatest importance!

March's Tigerrific Trait at Belle Elementary is "Be Prepared". Teaching students the importance of being prepared for school and lessons is a great trait that helps student success. Students are ready to learn and concerns are diminished when students learn the practice of being prepared.

i-Ready is an online reading and math program that assesses students knowledge and then gives students individualized lessons for their learning needs. Students practice online lessons at school for forty-five minutes per week in both reading and math. Students in grades first through fourth took their first i-Ready test at the beginning of September and then took a midyear test before Christmas break. The following students made 100% or more growth in i-Ready the first half of the school year! Students can practice i-Ready at home. Please ask your child's teacher for their i-Ready log in.

Tiger Tickets are used as a positive reinforcment to encourage students to follow classroom expectations, The Big 3, and Tigeriffic Traits. When a classroom earns 100 Tiger Tickets, there is a celebration! In February several classrooms earned a Tiger Ticket Party:

• Mrs. Seaver's class made their own pizza's with their teacher and OPAA! Kitchen Manager Rebecca Schlicker.
• Mrs. Jone's class celebrated with an extra recess.
• Miss Daugherty's class celebrated 100 Tiger Tickets with a pajama technology party.
