November 9,2023

Message From Principal Adam Mitchell
The goal for all schools is to have 90% of students attending 90% of the school year. After last week., 73.4% of our students are attending school more than 90% of time. On one hand, that rate is higher than it was at this time last year, which is certainly something to be celebrated, and we need to continue to strive to have our kids at school every day that they are healthy. Thank you for your continued effort and support in helping to raise our attendance rate!
Have a great weekend, and Go Bowmen!
Mr. Mitchell

Confer's Corner:
*This will be a recurring newsletter segment, written by Anne Confer Dean of Students*
As the students and staff focus on the theme of Gratitude for the month of November, I wanted to introduce myself and the gratitude that I have for the opportunity to work with the students at Sherwood High School.
As the Dean of Students my number one priority is to support students. This support has many different approaches. I focus on student discipline, tardies/skipping and interpersonal support around conflict resolution/bullying and student safety.
I always approach all student interactions by seeking to understand from all perspectives and allowing everyone the opportunity to be heard. Through these conversations with students I have always tried to share that every situation is an opportunity for growth and part of that growth is accepting that actions have consequences.
I have tremendous gratitude for this opportunity to work with and support your students as they are funny, creative, insightful and generally good humans. I'm excited to have joined the Bowmen family and look forward to the rest of the year!
Trimester 1 Finals Schedule
Finals will take place on Wednesday, November 29th with dismissal at 2:20pm and Thursday, November 30th with dismissal at 12:40pm.
Trimester 2 Schedule Change Requests
If you would like to request a schedule change for 2nd or 3rd trimester, please click HERE for a link to our schedule change request form. This is the only way requests are being accepted this school year.
Request forms will be addressed in the order they are received. For 2nd trimester, requests will be processed through 3:45 pm on Friday, December 8th. Any 2nd trimester changes after the deadline could result in a withdrawal fail grade.
Once you submit a request, continue attending your schedule as is. Counselors will work through the requests as quickly as we can. You can view any changes in StudentVue. Once you see the change in StudentVue, you may begin attending your new schedule.
Thanks in advance for your patience!
Elks Lodge Christmas Basket Opportunity
Our local Sherwood “Robin Hood” Elks #2342 has once again generously offered support for our families at Christmas time. If your family is in need and would like to apply for a Christmas basket, please contact your student's school counselor for access to the enrollment form. Forms are available in English and Spanish. All forms must be received by the Elks by December 11, 2023. Delivery or Pick up for the baskets will be December 16th.
Nutrition Services Update: Milk for School Lunches
The Nutrition Services Department was recently notified by our milk vendor that they will be experiencing shortages due to supply chain issues for milk cartons, which could impact the availability of milk options for our school lunches in the coming weeks. This may mean that there will only be one flavor of milk option (instead of the standard two) or that juice may be served as an alternative as needed.
All cafeterias will continue to offer milk as usual until we are affected by the shortage. Juice has been ordered as a backup in the event that milk is not available to offer. Many school districts will be affected by this supply chain shortage, so it is a possibility that juice may also become unavailable due to higher demand.
We will continue to update families as we learn more information from our vendor. Thank you for your understanding.
