From the Principal's Desk
February 8, 2021
Greetings FWAFA Family,
We've had 350 respondents on our Intent to Return for the 21-22 school year form so far. Please take a few moments to let us know your intentions about enrolling your student for next year. We just need one form per student by Friday, February 19.

I also want to give a huge SHOUT OUT to everyone for their attention to complying with dress code. The counselors, Mr. Mendez, and I made classroom visits last week to check on our progress, and I'm happy to report that we are LOOKIN' GOOD! Keep up the great work! It makes me beam with pride to see our students working hard and doing all that they can to become the very best version of themselves. It is inspiring!
Stay tuned for news about APEX Fun Run and Color Battle (which sounds like is transforming to become a dance/karaoke party - FWAFA style) coming in a separate Jupiter Ed email. We are making some adjustments due to impending inclement weather on Thursday.
Creatively yours,
Dr. Jackson
Show Your Love and Like - Buy a Valogram!
The season of love, candy, and red and pink things is upon us! The Sophomore class is offering you a couple of ways to enjoy the season:
1. From February 1st-February 9th, ALL students AND their adult-type humans can purchase Valograms ONLINE at www.artsacademics.org/valogram
2. In-person students can participate in our Valentine’s Dress Day on Tuesday, February 16th. Just bring $5 with you when you come to school Tuesday morning. Sophomores will meet you at the door to give you your sticker of participation. Remember that your Valentine’s attire must cover everything your uniform would.
Mardi Gras Madness: Student Council Mixer
Attention 3rd-6th Graders:
**At-Home Learners**
Due to the complexity of gathering results for at-home learners, we will record the standard fitness moves of 36 for all at-home learners (most all students always complete all 36 fitness moves). If for any reason your student performs less than 36 and you would like that result adjusted, please notify bianccac@apexfunrun.com no later than Thursday at 6:00PM. Remember the minimum recorded is 26 for any student.
Here is a SNEEK PEEK TRAILER for APEX Remix, so you can get a glimpse of into the fun we’ll have Thursday! https://vimeo.com/475520771
Lastly, we still have three days left in our program. Please continue to share your student’s Apex Pledge page with Friends and Family, or if you have not yet engaged, please consider helping our great school. If you need your student’s ACCESS CODE, please send and email to our Team leader at bianccac@apexfunrun.com and Bookworm Beez will be happy to get that for you.
7th-12th Graders: APEX Color Battle Becomes Karaoke Battle and Dance Party
Thursday afternoon February 11, before school lets out, students that raise at least $30 for our fundraiser will get to SAFELY gather and:
· Have Free Dress Day
· Hangout
· Listen to great music
· Dance
· Participate and/or watch our Karaoke Battle where someone will be crowned the 2021 FWAFA Karaoke King/Queen
· We will have several great raffle prizes including
o Passes to Epic Waters
o Gift certificate to Boardroom Salon for men or Dr Bar
· We will also have food and drink available (PIZZA!)
Remember 10% of funds raised go directly back to that student’s grade’s Project Celebration Fund for senior year! The event will happen before the end of the school day and will not interfere with after-school activities.
We Love Our Charter School!
Advocating for the Charter School we love has never been more important! As pandemic places strain on the global economy and newly-elected officials in Austin look for ways to get more bang from the education buck, we as Charter School community members must make our voices heard.
Did you know that, on average, Charter Schools receive $700 LESS per student in funding from the state as compared to students enrolled at an ISD?
More importantly, did you know that there are State Legislators who are spreading misinformation about Charter School funding, stating that we are taking money out of the pockets of our ISD neighbors?
The State Legislative Session returns on February 9th, and we need to make sure our lawmakers know how much We Love Our Charter School!
