Letter From Ms. Brito
Dear Washington Families,
Thank you to all of our teachers, parents, and students for helping to make the start of the school year a success--we are off to a great start!
A friendly reminder that morning supervision begins after 8:35 a.m. and students are allowed to enter the building promptly at 8:45. For safety, please do not bring unsupervised students prior to this time. If you use the Kiss and Go line, please be sure to drop off your students on the western side of Western, closest to where students line up. A reminder that the Kiss and Go is NOT a parking lane--please allow students to exit the car and walk to their line-up area. We appreciate your cooperation in support of following our morning procedures.
Additionally, we received information from the City of Park Ridge that some of our sidewalks on Stewart will be replaced starting the week of September 6th. This may impact some of our arrival and dismissal procedures, as normal working hours for this project are 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. We appreciate your flexibility with observing signage and walking around the areas under construction. If you have specific questions about the project, please contact Park Ridge Public Works.
I hope everyone enjoys a safe and relaxing holiday weekend. Enjoy the sunshine and we look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday for another week of teaching and learning.
Warm Regards,
Angie
Parent Curriculum Night - September 8th
Pizza Day - Order Here!
Pizza Thursday Ordering for 2022-2023 is here!
Spuntino's will once again deliver pizza to Washington School during lunch every Thursday. Cheese pizza will be served by the slice by parent volunteers. In addition to pizza Thursdays being a fun lunch, it is also an important fundraiser for the school!
Orders are due Sunday, September 11, 2022, by midnight. After September 11th there will not be any more opportunities to sign up for pizza until the second half of the year. No late orders will be accepted in order to ensure we have an accurate pizza count. If ordering for more than one child, each child will need to have his/her own order.
Orders are placed through the PTO website so you will need to log in to the PTO website. Please click here https://washingtonelempto.membershiptoolkit.com/pizza to place an order for pizza.
To check if a current order was placed correctly, please select "My Account" at the top right of your personal PTO account page, and then select "Order History" to view previous successful orders.
Ordering options are as follows:
- FULL YEAR or HALF of the year.
- Families can choose 1, 2, or 3 slices per student.
- If you choose half of the year your child will get pizza from Thursday, September 15th through Thursday, December 22nd.
- If you choose a full year your child will get pizza from Thursday, September 15th through Thursday, June 8th.
Additionally, we are looking for parent volunteers to help serve pizza to our students on Thursdays at Washington from 11:20 AM to 12:35 PM. Please click https://washingtonelempto.membershiptoolkit.com/volunteer/97548 to sign up if you are interested in volunteering!
Picture Day - September 26th
Please note this is a prepay site and ordering will be closed at Midnight the day of Picture Day to process the orders. If parents missed prepaying, they will have a chance to order pictures with their child's Ticket Code. When placing an order after Picture Day with a Ticket Code a shipping fee will be added on and picture packages will be shipped directly to the home. Ticket Codes will be delivered with the bulk picture package order approximately three weeks post-Picture Day.

Forest and Woodland Clean-Up Event
Please join Go Green Park Ridge for their final Forest & Woodland Clean-Up Event of the year! Since we started this program last year, over 900 volunteers have come out. We love seeing church groups, the Park Ridge Wilderness Federation, Scouting groups, Chamber of Commerce members, businesses, special-interest groups, and families all coming out to “repair the world" in our own backyard. These events literally bring the community together!
For this final clean-up of the year, we will be concentrating on the large forest areas that border Dee Road and the Des Plaines Woods bike path and major roads. We hope to remove as much litter as possible before the leaves fall and the snow arrives.
WHO: Everyone is invited!
WHAT: “Every Day is Earth Day!” Forest & Woodland Clean-up
WHEN: Saturday, October 15 from 1:00 – 3:00pm
WHERE: Parking Lot at Dam No 4 Woods (across from Maine South High School)
WHY: Because…
· It’s out in the fresh air!
· It’s free!
· It’s good for the earth!
· It’s good exercise!
· It’s fun!
· It gives back to the Community!
Organizational leaders, you can reserve your own area! Please review this attachment and reply with (1) your organizational name, (2) the name of the "zone leader" (point of contact for me), (3) which area you’d like, and (4) and an estimated number of participants. First come, first served.
I don't know about you, but I'm itching to get out there. As John Muir said, “…and into the forest I go, to lose my mind and find my soul.” Reach out with questions. And PASS THE WORD! Let’s set a new record for turn-out.
