PES Mission Statement
Happy New Year and Welcome Back!
PES faculty and staff are ready for another exciting academic year together. We have prepared and are ready to guide your students through a year of continued growth, learning, and achievement. As we kick off 2024, we focus on providing a supportive, stimulating, rigorous teaching environment for our students and community.
To our parents, we value your partnership in this education journey. Your involvement and support play a crucial role in the success of your child's education. We encourage open communication; don't hesitate to contact your child's teacher with questions or concerns.
To our students, this is a fresh start filled with opportunities to explore, discover, and excel. Embrace the challenges, ask questions, and don't be afraid to take risks. Remember, each day is a chance to learn and grow.
Together, as a community of learners, we will create a positive and inspiring atmosphere that encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and a love for knowledge. Let's make this academic year a journey of shared accomplishments where every student reaches their full potential. Here's to a fantastic and successful 2024 school year ahead. Our doors are always open if you have any questions or need assistance. Let's make it a great year together.

Message from the Reading Coach
Hello, parents! If your child has a Student Reading Improvement Plan (SRIP), you should have received an update by November 3rd on the progress your student is making towards their reading goal. Teachers are diligently working with your student to achieve the goals set for them. If you have any questions about the SRIP goals, progress your student has made, or ways you can help at home, please reach out to your child's teacher.
A Message From Our Math Coach
I am Mrs. Jessica Zavala and will be serving as the Providence Elementary School's Math Instructional Coach for the 2023-2024 school year. This is my 14th year in education. I am excited to work with your students in grades Kindergarten through 5th grade, partnering with AMSTI and the Office of Mathematics Improvement for the ALSDE. So far, I have had fun introducing new math centers, activities, and number sense routines into the classrooms! I am also looking to provide parents with opportunities for math workshops throughout the year. We have already hosted our first math take-home games during the International Festival. Thank you to those of you who stopped by and picked up a game! We will have another math workshop during the spring!

The character word for the month of January is Perseverance:
Perseverance: working hard and not giving up despite how difficult it is to get the job done.
Why is perseverance important:
You’re doing school work and it’s your hardest subject. Maybe it’s a difficult math problem, or a long essay, or maybe you have to stand up in front of the class and present. Whatever it is for you, it’s tough. You’re struggling. You’re not sure you can do it. Maybe you even want to give up. You think about taking the easy way out and just doing the least you have to, even though you know it won’t be right.
But you know the work needs to get done and you know you have to do your best work. So you try harder. You stick with it and after some frustration and focus, you do it! You got it done and did it to the best of your ability.
Perseverance is that drive that helps you keep working even when you want to quit!
