Mountain View Weekly Update
October 8
Announcements & Updates
- HSA Enrichment clubs are back! Fall offerings include a 4-week Field Hockey clinic with Ms. Magenheimer and a 7-week Art Service club with Ms. Carozza. Click here to sign-up. Note that you must be a member of the HSA to enroll your child in Enrichment clubs. The deadline to enroll is October 15.
- Administration has fielded several questions regarding use of Payforit accounts to purchase snacks, cookies, and pizza. At Hilltop, all students are eating in the cafeteria. Mountain View students are split between the cafe and gym; there is only 1 POS machine. It would be too time-consuming to send students to the cafe to scan their Payforit cards or have the kitchen hand-record and enter student account numbers, therefore, at this time, only exact change is being accepted.
- Friendly reminder: Please be sure your child has extra face coverings in their backpack. While the school does provide extras to those who need them, supplies are limited.
- Did you know? All Weekly Update newsletters are posted to the "News" section of the Mountain View website. Both the Weekly Update and the Daily Bulletin are available on the mobile app.
A note from Mrs. Walsh
Happy Friday Mountain View! Thank you to everyone who participated in the Week of Respect Spirit Week. We had Advisory today, and because today is the last day of the Week of Respect, our lesson today focused on respect. The students participated in class discussions on how we can show respect to different people, as well as earn the respect of those around us. The students also completed a School Climate Survey in Advisory today. The purpose of the School Climate Survey is to give students a platform to share their honest opinions on things such as their feelings on the school building, opportunities to get involved, teacher relationships and support, peer interactions, and suggestions for future Advisory lessons.
On Thursday, the 8th graders welcomed Ms. Gina DiDomenico from the Morris County Vocational School District for a presentation during EEE. Morris County Vocational offers unique programs that combine academics with career and technical education classes. Morris County Vocational offers academies such as animal science, business administration (with early college), culinary arts, design, education, finance, government, health care, performing arts, and sports medicine. The benefits of Morris County Vocational range from studying a specific career area of interest and real-world experience to earning college credits while in high school. The deadline to apply is December 3. For more information, visit www.mcvts.org.
Join me in participating in the Autumn self-care challenge below. I’m working to cross a few things off this list this weekend. Thank you for another great week, and enjoy your long weekend!
