Welcome to the first edition of the Owens Home-School Connection! My name is Monica Jones and I am the School Counselor at Hazel Owens Elementary. I am excited to share weekly tips and information to help reinforce the amazing things we have going on here at Owens.

This year, Tyler ISD is implementing The Leader in Me process to grow our eagles socially, emotionally, and academically into the very best versions of themselves.This process is based on The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey. We will be using resources from The Leader in Me throughout the day through announcements, guidance lessons, classroom activities and more. Each week I'll be sending home some ideas of how you can help reinforce these habits at home.

Along with The Leader in Me, we are continuing to focus on successful student outcomes for our eagles with some at home ideas for both math and reading. We hope you enjoy these activities and it gives you an opportunity to connect with your child's learning as a family.
