Principal's Message
Dear Twain Families,
We have a lot to celebrate this week. First of all, congratulations to all of our River Rafters of the Month. This includes: Anela F. (Kinder), Khloe E. (1st grade), Samantha L. (2nd grade), Erick R. (3rd grade), Camila R. (4th grade), and Blake G. (5th grade). You are all deserving of this recognition!
I also want to send a special congratulations to Ms. Kehl and Ms. Rosales Rivas classes for being this week’s OARS classroom winners. I appreciate all that you are doing inside and outside of the classroom.
Finally, way to go Ms. Monson’s class for being this year’s first PTA Mileage Club Golden Shoe Winner!

Khloe Escalante
Khloe does an amazing job showing OARS daily in the classroom. She has a great attitude, helps out her classmates and she tries her best when doing her work. Khloe shares her positive attitude with everyone she meets. I have been impressed with Khloe's hard work within the classroom and her kind heart. She is a powerhouse of endurance and persistence working on challenging herself daily. It is a pleasure to have her in our class.
Samantha Letua
Samantha shows OARS every single day. She listens, follows directions, and is kind and helpful to others. Samantha completes homework consistently and always gives her best effort at school. Her materials are kept neat and organized. Samantha is a great example of what it means to be a Mark Twain River Rafter!
Erick Ramirez
Camila Reyes
Blake Gumbs
Blake Gumbs is a true example of what it means to be a Mark Twain River Rafter. She consistently shows OARS in and out of the classroom. Blake embraces the responsibility required to continue moving towards her goals and be successful in middle school and beyond. She treats classmates, teachers, and staff with respect and promotes a positive school climate with her actions. She is eager, hardworking, and accomplishes all tasks to the best of her abilities. Attendance Matters!
We are excited to begin a new year with new possibilities for success. Attendance is a vital component of your child’s success in school. 80% of student success in school begins with showing up and there is strong evidence that school attendance makes a difference. We encourage students to arrive when our gates open for breakfast at 8 :00 A.M. to ensure they are on time, have breakfast, and are able to play before the bell rings at 8:30 A.M.
If your student(s) cannot attend school, please notify the front office via phone at (310) 675-9134 between 07:45 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. or by completing the Student Absence Form.
