Haw River Hype

Last week was very busy around our school. We celebrated Valentine's Day, shared why we love our school and ABSS, and celebrated our Bus Drivers SRO. We celebrated students who met their goal of earning 30 House Points with our PBIS Bingo Celebration. We also were excited to recognize academic growth, leadership, specials leaders, and house leaders at our Rising Star mid year awards. We are proud of each and every one of our students and their accomplishments! Go Lion Cub Leaders!

Reminders:

• Families may come to eat lunch with your students. Please reach out to your child's teacher to let them know you are coming so they can plan for seating. Remember: NO OUTSIDE FOOD OR DRINK MAY BE BROUGHT IN. Upon arrival, please sign in at the front office and get a visitor's tag.

Students who earned 30 House Points were able to attend the PBIS Celebration. Students celebrated by playing Valentine Bingo for prizes. Everyone had a great time!

It's the Half-time mark for our Data Super Bowl. Now is a great time to pause and reflect on our work this year and continue to work towards our goals of "scoring a touchdown" and growing by 6 points every time we show what we know! Congratulations on the growth each house made so far this year. Lion Cubs Leaders are growing!

Lion Cub Leaders can help our community in many ways. Please bring your items and turn them into your homeroom teacher! We will continue collecting items through the end of March!

Each week during morning announcements, Mr. Bryan will announce the “Lion Cub Lingo” Words of the week. These words have been pulled from an academic vocabulary list that are most commonly used on formative and summative assessments. Students that use those words with adults in the building in the correct context can be rewarded with a House Point.

This year Elon First Baptist Church will be partnering with Elon Cares, a new non-profit in the area, for our food pantry. Please see the flyers below.

During the new year, are you looking for ways to give back to our community? Volunteering your time at our school would be a great way to be involved. We are currently looking for volunteers to help with our duty-free lunch. To volunteer, please complete the background check linked here and sign up by clicking the button below.

Thinking Win-Win embraces an attitude that continually seeks mutual benefit in our interactions with others. The points leader of the whole school for the 22-23 school year is Itzel S., in 2nd Grade with 201 points!

In first place is Excelsior with 6,764 points. The points leader for last week was Briseyda B., in 1st Grade. The points leader for this school year is Itzel S., in 2nd grade.
