PTO News
Thank you to all the families and teachers who ordered from Jersey Mike’s last night in support of LMS PTO. It was so great to see so many familiar faces – even as we stuffed ours while waving from afar!
The PTO will have board positions to fill for the next school year – and we would LOVE for you to join us! This is a great way to get involved in your child's education and feel good about contributing with as much, or as little, time as you wish. Please contact Keeley Tuggle at ktuggle@randolphcollege.edu to discuss what position might be a good fit for you. Your child's middle school years will fly by - now is the time to get involved!

THIS WEEK’S TOP STORIES
Our Favorite Parenting Books of 2020
Greater Good’s editors pick their favorite books to help parents and their kids thrive.
For a lot of families, parenting has never been harder than it was this year. Many have been struggling for months trying to provide child care and schooling at home while simultaneously working either alongside their children or as essential workers in the community, if they haven’t already lost their jobs.
The theme that emerges across our favorite parenting books of the year is how important connection and communication are. Whether it’s sensory communication between parents and babies during co-sleeping, conversations parents have with their young sons entering puberty, or talking about scary news, one major key to children’s social and emotional well-being is warm, open parent-child communication.
These 2020 books offer science-based practical tips and sample scripts to help you communicate better with your children, build closer relationships, and set them up for happiness and resilience in life.

This week in SEL/Homeroom
This week in Homeroom: This week we have continued conversations about making positive choices and how peer pressure can impact us in positive and negative ways.
For further conversations with your student: Talk with your student about what it might look like to be a positive leader and a positive follower. In what kinds of scenarios might these roles be important? Discuss that most people who are successful in life don’t let negative people pull them down, and surround themselves with positive influences.
Can you help? Just answer a quick question below that helps connect us from home to school? Participants will be entered into a drawing for a family gift each quarter. Family Connection Question
