Year 7:
The Year 7 boys football team continue to work well together in their weekly tournaments, showing amazing resilience last week playing in poor weather conditions.
Well done to Year 7 students Melissa, Molly, Nikola and Katie who gave a fantastic assembly on Children in Need, planned themselves and delivered to Year 7.
Kaleb L has shown he is very proficient at Hockey.
Adam K has shown exceptional historical skills.
We wish Riley T well in her forthcoming Diving championships.
Ava McK competed at the National Championships for Highland Dancing winning medals whilst continuing to dance on a broken foot, we all wish her a speedy recovery.
We also wish Skye F who plays for Corby Town a speedy recovery after a recent injury in her match.
Year 8:
Emilie C took part in a ballroom dancing completion in Blackpool and made it through to the finals, amazing achievement Emilie!
Katie W completed in a competition with her dogs and was placed 2nd and 3rd, well done Katie!
8ST have been taking part in Lemon Pop: Customise your Life art workshops held by Marvin Mudzongo. The students took part in a self-development art programme, making art central for healing and wellness. They used creative processes of art making to enhance their well-being. The workshop takes place over 4 weeks and the students had a great introduction during their first session.
Year 9:
Year 9 students took part in a workshop with David Hyner (stretch development workshop). David is a fantastic motivational speaker who brings humour to the workshop allowing students to realise their mental strength and how to utilise this for exam revision and retaining classroom information.
Year 10:
Year 10 boys' basketball team had a great game against Prince William this week securing a 21-10 win.
Year 11:
Sixth Form
This week Mr Hallas would like to congratulate year 12 for the way they have embraced the ‘Enrichment and Personal Development’ programme which takes place every Wednesday afternoon. To date we have:
- 5 students completing an online accredited course linked to either business or computer science
- 8 students studying for the extended project qualification
- 4 students volunteering at a local hospice
- 7 students using the online platform, Busuu, to self-study a language
- 11 students going into lesson to support key stage three students with their reading
- 3 students supporting the PE department with lower school sport
- 4 students volunteering at a local charity shop
- 2 students volunteering at the Corby Food Bank
- 5 students on long term work experience placements
It is wonderful to see so many students stepping out of their comfort zone to develop those all-important employability skills.
Year 12 Science - Year12 Biologists have been looking at DNA extraction where they successfully extracted and stained DNA from peas. (The purple stain shows the strands of DNA). - Picture below.
