Basketball Knockout Tournament
The Flagler County Youth Center Knockout Basketball Tournament sponsored by the programs Student Advisory Council was a great success. Over twenty students battled it out in a multiple-round tournament to be declared the winner. Ultimately, it would come down to two students, Aubrey Britton and Ja’Bari Grimes. In the end, Aubrey Britton would emerge victorious, earning a $20 WAWA Gift Card. As our runner-up, Ja’Bari Grimes would also receive an award of a $10 WAWA Gift Card. Thank you to everyone who participated!
Grade / Attendance Checks
This month, the Flagler County Youth Center continued its efforts to promote positive behavior both in and out of the classroom. On Wednesday, January 10th, 2024, the Youth Center held its third-grade check for the year. Students who had all A's on their progress report were rewarded with pizza, chips, and a drink. Those who had A's and B's were given the choice of two of these options, and those who had A's, B's, and C's were given the choice of one of these options. We hope that our students will continue to work hard to improve their grades and themselves.

Road to Success Update
The Road to Success (RTS) program has reached 356 GEDs to date, with 4students graduating in January. We have a 98% positive outcome since the beginning of the program. This month, PNC Bank began its 3-part series on financial literacy for the students and we took interested students to a Career Fair held at Flagler/Palm Coast High School. Additionally, our Ice House student success course, funded by CareerSource Flagler/Volusia, began. This is the fourth time the class has been taught to select students and focuses on being successful in life based on the experiences of entrepreneurs. RTS has two interns working currently – one at the Flagler Youth Center and the other at the Community Cats of Palm Coast Thrift Store. To find out about the GED program or the student internships, please visit our website (https://gwcarvercenter.com/rts/) or contact Brian Willard at 386-437-8279.
