Is the vacuum packaging of skin care products sterile?
Is the vacuum packaging of skin care products really sterile?
In order to be more convenient and hygienic to use, more and more cosmetics are doing research on packaging, vacuuming, compressing pumps, sterile chambers... But under these extremely design-like appearances, the tightness of the packaging still needs to be investigated. Is it really sterile?
Q&A
1. Is vacuum packaging of cosmetics equal to sterility?
The purpose of vacuuming is to delay product deterioration. After filling the finished cosmetic product into the bottle, the gas will be pumped out through the machine, so that the bacteria will lose the breeding ground for survival. But whether bacteria enter, also depends on the production process of the cosmetic and the preservation condition when using it. The process of making cosmetics is not a vacuum environment, so purchasing regular and qualified cosmetics can ensure hygiene and safety. In order to avoid bacterial growth during use, preservatives are added to the raw materials at the beginning, but if they are not stored properly, they will still deteriorate.
2. How to judge whether cosmetics breed bacteria?
Cosmetics contaminated by bacteria are as terrible as expired cosmetics, which may lead to acne at a light level, and pus and infection at worst, especially for sensitive skin. When makeup starts to turn yellow or smells pungent, it means the product has gone bad and can no longer be used.
3. Can vacuum-packed cosmetics really last longer?
After vacuuming, the oxygen in the bottle is reduced, which can prevent the oxidation of the ingredients, stabilize the activity of the ingredients, and inhibit the survival of microorganisms, so the storage time can be prolonged. However, skin care products are liquid and cannot be completely evacuated like solids, so the extended storage time is limited.
4. Does it look like the sealed package is vacuumed?
Sadly, most packages that look airtight are not vacuumed. To judge whether it is a vacuum bottle, just look at the pores at the bottom of the bottle. After covering the air hole at the bottom of the bottle, it will be impossible to squeeze the bottle pump. Most air-tight packaging such as the plastic packaging tube removes the remaining air after production, not a true vacuum. And our common spray is designed to pressurize the bottle with nitrogen, and it is not a vacuum.
5. Can unused cosmetics be vacuumed and stored?
You can put the bottle in a vacuum bag and pump the air out. The significance of this preservation is to delay the deterioration of this skin care product when it is not used for a long time, but it cannot really effectively ensure the sterility of the cosmetic. Skin care products with high nutritional activity are generally recommended to be used up within 3 months after opening. After being put into a vacuum bag, the active ingredient reduces the exposure to oxygen and sunlight and can be stored for about 1 month longer.
