Message from Principal Parrish

Greetings Families!

Welcome to the 23-24 school year! Our dream this school year is that all of our students have a fantastic school year full of growth and enriching experiences. Our team will be working hard to make this the best year for our Cardinals!

I recommend checking out the beginning of year parent links if you have not already done so. There are links to request a bus for your child, a car rider tag, information about the new JCPS App, and more. We will no longer be utilizing Class Dojo for parent communication. For parent communication we will use the JCPS App.

Mark your calendars for September 19th. This will be our curriculum night. This will be an important night for FOES. Teachers will review over the nightly homework routine for each grade level, grade level promotion standards, and learn about their child's daily routine. We look forward to seeing you there!

Thank you for everything that you do to support our school,

Mr. Parrish

Feel free to reach out to me through email (tjparrish@johnston.k12.nc.us), or call the school (919-963-2165).

Student and Parent Handbook

Our school mission is: “To ensure a safe and positive learning environment, centered around quality instruction, where student growth remains the top priority.”

Our school vision is: “A school community that promotes the social-emotional and academic growth of ALL learners through teamwork, positive relationships, and support.”

School News

  • Parents are allowed to walk students to class for the first week of school. 8/28-9/1 for grades 1-5 and 9/5-9/8 for kindergarten. 9/11 will be the first day kindergarteners walk themselves to class.
  • Our goal is for 100% of our students to have completed Student Accountability forms on file. If you did not complete yours at Orientation be on the lookout for it in your child's communication folder.
  • K-2 Homerooms send home nightly communication folders. 3-5 homerooms send home red communication folders on Tuesday.
  • There are 3 weapon detection systems on our campus. Our systems are located at the front/main entrance of our school, 3-5 car rider entrance, and bus rider entrance. All students, staff, and visitors who enter our campus will be screened.
  • At Four Oaks we value consistent attendance. We prefer students to arrive to school on time (before the 8:55 tardy bell) and stay the full day.
  • When students return from an absence, please send a doctor's note or a parent written note to their teacher. Excused absences are a better reflection on a students attendance record.
  • Students should not be checked out after 3:15 pm unless the parent/guardian has a doctor’s appointment card or have received prior approval from an administrator. Checkouts at the end of the day are disruptive to instruction and to our dismissal procedures. For the safety of our students and in order to preserve instructional time, early dismissals should be kept to a minimum.

Car Rider Info

  • Student drop off begins at 8:25 am and ends at 8:55. The tardy bell rings at 8:55.

  • Student pickup begins at 3:55 pm and ends at 4:15 pm on regular school days.

  • Students must be dropped off and picked up in the designated traffic circles. The K-1 traffic circle is in front of the Main Building and the 2-5 traffic circle is in the back of the building off of Tucker Street. Upper grade students with K/1 siblings will utilize the front car rider.

  • All students must be unloaded and loaded on the right side of the vehicle.

  • No parent should exit the vehicle while in the carpool line.

  • Car rider request forms must be filled out prior to picking up children. This form can be obtained in the front office. Upon completion of the form, two authorized placards with the names of the students to be picked up will be issued to parents.

  • When entering the traffic circle for afternoon pick up, a placard should be placed in the car window displaying the name of the student to be picked up. If you do not have a placard issued by the school, you will need to park in a visitor’s parking spot and go into the front office to pick the student up.

  • Please avoid blocking neighborhood driveways and always locate the back of the line when joining carpool traffic.
