Principal's Message
Good afternoon Canby High School Students & Families,
Thank you for flexibility and support as we navigated the crazy weather this week. Zoom classes, while not ideal, do allow for us to keep instruction going, and we so appreciate your teamwork in making them happen. We had attendance in the high 80% range, which is amazing.
The CTE Summit that was scheduled for tomorrow is postponed due to the weather this week. We will keep you updated on when this opportunity to see our amazing career and technical education offerings in action will take place.
Please also note a number of rescheduled athletic events. There is a link to the most up to date calendar in the athletic section below.
Last week, our Speech team hosted a Congressional Debate Tournament. This is another example of the activities where our talented students shine. Please check out the photos from the tournament below.
I hope you were able to stay safe and warm during this inclement weather period. I look forward to seeing students back at CHS.
Have a Wonderful Week!
Best,
Cari Sloan

Please have your student check the lost and found that is up in the main lobby entrance for their lost or forgotten items. This will only be displayed until the end of January before being donated.
Important Assessment Information for Canby Families
Thank you for supporting your child’s participation in the upcoming Oregon Statewide Assessments. Assessment is an important part of each student’s academic experience. Beginning in kindergarten and through grade 12, learners in the Canby School District experience a variety of formative, interim, and summative assessments. Oregon Statewide Assessments are one example of a summative assessment administered in grades 3 through 8, and grade 11. Students in these grade levels are required to participate in English Language Arts and Math assessments annually. In grades 5 and 8, students also participate in Science.
Canby School District, like all districts in Oregon, is striving for 95% or greater student participation. This goal is essential for understanding the depth and breadth of learning for student groups across our schools, and for evaluating programs and resources. Oregon Summative Assessment data provides information to the Canby community and to district teams about our successes or strengths and areas for improvement.
We will be communicating additional information about Oregon Statewide Assessment dates for your students’ grade level and ways to support your student’s success. You can find more information on our district State Assessment webpage. Please reach out to your school principal or classroom teacher if you have further questions. Canby School District appreciates your partnership.
State Assessments
11th grade students will be asked to participate in the Oregon Statewide Assessment System(OSAS) starting in February of 2024. Here are some important details for your planning:
Language Arts: Feb 5, 6, 7
Math: Feb 12, 13, 14
Science: Feb 22, 23
NAEP Testing
The National Center for Educational Statistics will be on campus to test 50 12th graders on February 26th. Students affected will be hearing from the school through email and letter home. If you have any questions, please contact our Testing Coordinator Sally Park.
