PTO- an important family engagement opportunity
As many of you know, we have a very active and generous PTO. They meet on the first Thursday of the month and discuss family activities, staff support, and student support. Over my nine years in Merton, the PTO has been instrumental in providing the school signs, playground equipment, STEM materials, and staff grants. Attached to the email containing this smore are the notes from yesterday's meeting. Please consider attending next month's PTO meeting or checking out the Merton PTO website for opportunities to get involved.

Book Fair
Next week, the PTO is hosting our fall book fair Tuesday, November 10th through Friday, November 13th. The students will all be visiting the book fair next week, and you will be able to visit during conferences on Thursday. This is an opportunity to buy a book or two or three for your child as well as donating books to our staff and our library. We thank you for your consideration.

Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive
As many of you know, we are in the midst of our annual Thanksgiving food drive. The drive ends on Friday, November 13th. The generosity of our families is an incredible outpouring of care for those families in our area who are in need of some extra support during this time. Please consider sending non-perishable food items to school with your child. We appreciate it.
New York City Marathon
It isn't often that I take the time to thank all of you for supporting me as your principal. Last weekend, I had the awesome opportunity to experience the New York City Marathon with Jen, my wife, and Lauren, my daughter. The support and encouragement that you provided was felt on each and every step of the 26.2 mile journey through the 5 boroughs of NYC. I appreciate your heartfelt congratulations upon my return. But the best part of the race was hearing these two words- Go Merton! Now Merton is famous even in New York City.
